We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President, Risk Steward Oversight, Conduct and Framework, AMH ASP WPB RC.
Principal responsibilities
The role holder will carry out activities that will include most of the following, but not limited to:
· Preparing risk reports or governance papers with complete and accurate high-quality RC risk insights.
· Analysing dashboards and consolidating key management information to produce insightful and high-quality analytical reports.
· Identifying key risks, issues, themes and ensuring timely follow up through read across, lesson learnt insights and recommendations.
· Providing secretariat support to governance forums, including delivery of meeting packs, minutes taking, maintaining and proactively managing actions and logs.
· Supporting the embedment of effective risk stewardship in in HK and across markets in ASP.
· Providing timely advice and guidance based on HSBC policies, procedures and operating instructions.
· Keeping records, including access, administration, re-certification and maintenance of audit trails and maintaining sharepoint libraries.
· Supporting Compliance-related projects, initiatives, and training.
Customer / Stakeholders
· Liaising and supporting global/regional/local First & Second LOD stakeholders on RC matters.
· Providing timely and relevant information to senior management in Hong Kong Compliance team, WPB stakeholders and governance forums.
· Developing and maintaining a strong and professional working relationships with other risk stewards.
Leadership and Teamwork
· Demonstrating excellent behaviours in line with HSBC core values.
· Working effectively as part of a team, taking the lead where appropriate and contributing to team output and collaboration.
· Fostering a learning agile culture, promoting proactive review of lessons learned.
· Sharing best practices with RC risk stewards in HK and across markets in ASP.
· Working closely with line manager on guiding and supporting the development of junior members in the team.
· Ensuring effective and open communication, team building, knowledge sharing, coaching and mentoring not only within the function but to the broader organisation.
· Supporting a diversity and inclusive environment.
Management of Risk
· Aligning WPB practices with changes in Global RC policies, and ensuring that the Risk Management Framework remains appropriate.
· Identifying RC risks in WPB and provide analysis, advice, solutions and support.
· Mitigating the risk of recurring incidents in WPB.
· Resolving issues promptly, and escalating concerns to WPB management timely.
· Interpreting regulatory developments and advising its impact to WPB, providing practical and compliant solutions.
Major Challenges
· HSBC is an extremely diverse business with significant geographical spread and activities that span a universal banking model, including continuing to innovate to keep abreast of changes in financial services markets globally. Such activity is in an increasingly regulated and complex global environment with often little consistency between laws and regulations in different jurisdictions and regulators taking a far more proactive approach in ensuring local compliance with their requirements and imposing increasingly stringent sanctions for breaches.
· The incumbent is required to ensure the consistent application of the highest risk management standards, notwithstanding the complexities of business operations. The incumbent would identify, plan and implement change programs to ensure that HSBC remains in line with regulatory requirements in HK and across markets in ASP.
· This role also needs to operate within a matrix environment, requiring strong leadership skills to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and deliver results. The role holder must be able to influence senior management and articulate clear business reasons for change initiatives, within the scope of this role.
· To drive change in culture with respect to the management of risk, in accordance with the three lines of defence model. To manage the inter-linked and competing demands of developing, implementing and improving strategic systems and controls, whilst also providing for adequate commercial view and balance.
· Role Context
· The role will report indirectly into the Head of Regulatory Compliance Oversight, Conduct and Framework, Hong Kong.
Requirements
· Demonstrated experience in RC risk management advisory function.
· Knowledge of RC related risk in the banking, insurance and asset management lines of businesses.
· Proven analytical skills, translating analysis and large volumes of information/data into succinct summaries.
· People skills with experience of dealing with stakeholders including the ability to articulate a case for risk management.
· Excellent communication (oral and presentational) and writing skills with ability to render complex concepts into well drafted reports.
· Experience in secretarial responsibilities.
· Ability to lead change and also work independently, escalating as appropriate.
· Effective time management & prioritisation skills with an ability to handle competing demands and deliver within stringent deadlines.
Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band than stated above.
