The role holder will lead, shape and steward the US and Americas performance. Delivering a cohesive and effective strategic overview that meets global regulatory requirements whilst offering quantitative and qualitative insight to support decision making within the bank. This role involves the oversight of all planning, forecasting and internal reporting processes in the US and across the Americas region US including responsibility of regional execution processes, regional analytical review and challenge processes and regional governance activities for group and regional exercises. 

As our Head of Financial Planning & Analysis, US & Americas you will:

·  Lead and shape the Financial Planning and Analysis function in the US and Americas, bringing together the skills and capabilities across the region to deliver effective support to senior management through a true US and Americas operating model
·  Lead the delivery of all forecasting exercises across the region and countries
·  Review, challenge and interpretation of the results, and to communicate the results to executive levels up to the Local Boards and sub-committees. This includes effective analytical challenge of key outputs (profitability, capital on local and Group basis, dividends, leverage, etc) and key results drivers (RWAs, loan impairments, trading book losses, AFS reserves, NII, fees, income and costs, etc)
·  Lead the work to streamline our internal financial reporting, working closely with global and regional colleagues across FP&A, Business Finance and Strategic Cost Management specifically to ensure a fit-for-purpose suite of rationalized, consistent reporting that supports management decision making
·  Lead the regional and in-country teams to deliver high quality, timely, value-add analysis across all internal and external reporting, Financial Resource Plan (FRP), and other analytical processes
·  Partner with the business and with the regional and country CEOs, CFOs and other strategic decision makers, to help them understand business performance and inform and drive strategic decision making
·  Oversee the delivery of reports including to ExCo, HNAH and HLAH Boards, and commentary to support external results
·  Adopt the Group Compliance Policy by escalating any identified compliance risk in liaison with Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply

For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $250,000 and $320,000.

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

·  Commercially minded and customer focused, with outstanding leadership skills, demonstrating ability to use initiative and effect change through people in a large matrix organisation
·  Excellent interpersonal skills, strong stakeholder management and business writing skills
·  Able to cope with pressure, and meet deadlines and multiple deliverables
·  Demonstrated ability to find workable solutions to problems
·  Advanced communication skills, both written and presentational, to many different senior managers at a strategic, business and technical level
·  A varied finance career across multiple finance and risk disciplines (e.g. Stress testing, Business Information & Analysis; Financial & Regulatory Reporting; Capital Management; Legal Entity CFO; Accounting Policy; Change Management)
·  Exceptional drive and commitment with the ability to work and thrive in a fast changing, results driven environment
·  Solid controls background (internal and external audit experience will be ideal)
·  Advanced understanding of HSBC’s financial statements and how we present them to the external world, including business performance, strategy, and key metrics particularly capital and risk-weighted assets
·  Very strong knowledge of the external environment – regulatory, competition, economics, etc
·  Evidence of operating confidently at Executive level
·  Strong understanding of regulatory capital and the drivers that move this, including P&L drivers and capital deductions
·  Strong understanding of Risk Weighted Assets and the drivers that move these across all asset classes
