Role Title: Head of Business Management
Business: Global Private Banking, PBGB

Role Purpose
Business Management works in partnership with the UKCI Front Office to implement strategy and engage with stakeholders across the wider environment. The role assists in ensuring effective governance structures and processes are in place within UKCI from a front to back basis, as well as assisting with the seamless implementation of strategic business initiatives 
UKCI Business Management covers three broad areas: i) Risk and Control ii) Business
 
Key Accountabilities
Impact on the Business
Risk and Control:
Oversee BM involvement in the relevant Business Control Committee, working with the Team Head to ensure close oversight of key risk issues, timely resolution and escalation where appropriate
Ensure RM team’s compliance with mandatory / necessary / business-critical initiatives and requirements
Business Managers will work closely with any dedicated Business Risk & Control Managers (BRCM), BIROs or other employees
Manage completion of the monthly Business Manager Certification, ensure key control tasks are undertaken and issues escalated through CAO/RMC as required
Work closely with Risk Functions (FCC, RC, OPR, Audit) to escalate issues and act as a key point of contact for these functions
Business Development
Oversee pipeline monitoring and reporting
Assist Team Heads with Growth sessions, playing an active role in client planning initiatives.
Proactively assist RMs with areas of difficulty converting pipeline to AUM
Projects
Lead a variety of projects / initiatives across UKCI to improve business performance and facilitate alignment to achieve strategic objectives
Act as key Front Office stakeholder in wider UKCI and GPB projects, delivering at pace and driving implementation
 
Customers / Stakeholders
Internal facing position ensuring that all business management functions and procedures are adhered to and that strong working relationships are developed and maintained with all business and functional teams.

Provides leadership and assist in driving a compliance culture across the business
 
Major Challenges
Ensure compliance with all Business Management and operations objectives.
Actively endorse and display expected HSBC, GPB and PBGB cultural behaviours.
Establish strong working relationships across Relationship Management, ISPS, PBGB, PBCI functional teams and the collective HSBC Group/HSBC Private Bank businesses generally.
Collaboration and influence, frequently required to get results from a wide range of people, often outside of direct management
Ensuring consistent methodologies across PBGB and PBCI
 
Role Context
·         HSBC and the banking industry in general is going through an unprecedented period of change. There is increasing scrutiny and pressure from regulators, governments, investors and the general public. The role holder needs to understand this context, the impact this has on the business and support the Relationship Team Heads and CAO as required.
 
Management of Risk
·         Be aware of the operational risk scenario associated with the role and act in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which you are involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy. 
 
Observation of Internal Controls
Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators and second line functions (Op Risk, CMAT etc).
Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
Be aware of the Operational Risk scenarios associated with my role and act in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.

Desired profile

Recognised strong adminstrative management skills.
Outstanding networking and communication skills with ability to communicate confidently at all levels.
Strong teamwork ethic.
Proven ability to interrogate and articulate complex/varied issues and drive them to conclusion
Previous Front Office experience would be beneficial.
Minimum of a BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in decision making practices.  .
Must possess effective presentation, interpersonal, negotiation, communication and analytical skills.
Proficiency with MS Office.
