The Role
In this role you will be required to lead and manage the provision of independent and objective audit services over International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) in the Middle East and Global Private Banking (GPB) in Channel Islands Isle of Man (CIIOM) & United Kingdom (UK). They will play an integral role in annual and ongoing audit planning and deliver audits in line with the audit plan, leading and supervising audits, and providing oversight of the end-to-end audit process.
You will be required to attend relevant governance forums, as required, and engage with and maintain open communication with senior management, providing constructive challenge as and when required.
Furthermore, you will be required to provide leadership to your team, create the conditions for high performance, and advocate for the function within the organisation. They will drive GIA’s purpose, ambition and strategy, which includes furthering GIA’s digital strategy to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of assurance activities.
Key Accountabilities:
In this role you will be required to:
· Understand and stay abreast of changes in the business and regulatory environment, assessing the impact on the risk assessment/control environment and providing a timely assessment to senior management.
· Continually re-assessing the operational risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures, management restructures, and the impact of new technology in conjunction with the Group.
· Lead and direct a team of highly experienced/qualified professional auditors working from a variety of global locations and motivating, encouraging and challenging them to provide very high quality and value-added results.
· Continuously enhance both audit skills/capabilities and subject matter knowledge related to their areas of audit coverage to make a meaningful contribution in audits and governance committees.
· Devise, develop and champion the use of relevant audit techniques and approaches, including digital audit tools, to drive operational effectiveness and improve the overall management of audit assignments.
· Coordinate and collaborate within and across teams to deliver audit work consistently, efficiently and effectively.
· Communicate identified issues with stakeholders in a timely and proactive way, identifying root causes and assessing the possible strategic implications.
· Effectively managing performance, succession and talent development planning, reward/recognition practices, coaching and mentoring.
· Foster a culture of open communication, encouraging speak-up, curiosity and diversity of thought.
Requirements
Experience & Skills
In order to apply for the role, you must have the following:
· Extensive years of experience within the banking sector with expertise in International Wealth and Premier Banking and Global Private Banking; experience of varying business cycles (e.g. turnaround, crisis, growth) is essential.
· Extensive expertise in audit methodologies, risk assessment and control frameworks with a strong understanding of industry regulations. Capable of addressing complex audit issues across various functions and adapting practices to support business objectives is essential.
· Demonstrable leadership skills, with the ability to bring the entire organisation along the journey by demonstrating an ability.
· Possesses an entrepreneurial spirit and growth mindset; optimises commercial opportunities to enhance value and returns.
· Consciously invests in developing teams, succession planning and bringing diverse talent up through the organisation.
· Effectively builds and manages relationships with key stakeholders (including external), ensuring alignment of operational goals with broader organisational objectives.
