The role of Commercial Banking (CMB) Global Markets Origination (GMO) is part of the CMB Origination (CMBO) team within CMB and is responsible for identifying and converting CMB and International Subsidiary Banking (ISB) corporate clients to Global Markets (GM) clients. The role of GMO requires close collaboration with Global Markets execution (GMCS, Common Reporting Standard (CRS), Thought Leadership and ePlatform, as well as with other Bank product partners (including Leverage Finance Origination, Debt Finance Origination, Advisory Origination, Capital Finance, Global Liquidity and Cash Management (GLCM), Global Trade and Receivable Finance (GTRF) and Structured Commodity Finance).

This role requires strong client experience and deep understanding of the full Global Markets product offering. Leveraging individual experience and understanding of the products for the various asset classes (currency, rates, metals and equity), as well as leveraging globally networked teams and electronic platforms to drive commercial success is required.

This role requires close collaboration with CMB and ISB relationship managers. This role also requires substantial domestic travel.

Responsibilities of the Position

· Identify opportunities that address specific needs of our clients. Manage process from identification into point of onboarding and then hand off to the appropriate GM product team.
· Responsible for a portfolio of corporate clients who have not executed Global Markets products with HBUS.
· Develop deep and broad customer relationships to enhance the HSBC franchise and generate value added business.
· Drive profitability by championing adoption and use of relevant service offerings to meet client needs, including identifying clients to migrate transactional business to the self-service e-capability (Evolve).
· Meet regularly with clients/prospects to assess financial needs and opportunities/risks facing the client business.
· Work closely with the products teams to structure appropriate capital structures for the client.
· Exercise full relationship management strategy on a portfolio of large relationship.
· Collaborate with product specialists and other Global Businesses to capture as much business as possible.
· Substantial travel required to achieve a 30 call/month target of speaking (phone or in person) with targeted GM prospects. Focus is on New to Bank and HBUS clients where the Bank has a Tier 1-3 credit extension.

· Exercise initiative and independent judgment to analyze, problem solve and proactively respond to client issues.As the target market is “international”, target clients are likely to have exposure to China in specific and Asia in general. As such, an extensive knowledge of business in the region will be required.

· Continually reassess the operational and compliance risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
· Monitor the consistent application of Group policy and manage all regulatory, financial and legal risks in the region.
· Driving all internal review and/or external regulators' requirements to ensure they are dealt with dealt with in an accurate and timely manner.
· Compliance with and management of sales suitability risks and requirements.
· Ensure all prospecting activity documentation is appropriately completed, approved and stored to provide performance tracking, targeted future sales efforts and compliance with sales and transactional suitability guidelines and requirements.
· Adhere to the Group compliance policy locally, ensuring adequate compliance resources and training, fostering a compliance culture.
· Identify and mitigate risks or potential risks to HSBC, including but not limited to credit, fraud, operational, and reputational risk.

Desired profile



Qualifications :

·  Minimum 10 years general banking experience in a senior position with exposure in Global Markets sales of all asset classes, working closely with the various Capital Markets and Capital Finance teams, GLCM, GTRF and commercial lending is required.
·  Series 79 (and/or 7) and 63 licenses required upon joining. On an exception basis, a 120 day contingency may be granted solely at management's discretion (with no client discussions on investment banking products).
