About the Sustaining Software Engineer, Hyper-Converged Infrastructure and Storage Systems

HPE-SimpliVity is currently seeking highly qualified and motivated candidates for a Software Engineer position with our Software Sustaining team for Hyper-Converged Infrastructure and Storage team, to be located in Morrisville, NC or in Westborough, MA. No relocation assistance available.

As a member of the SimpliVity software sustaining engineering team, you will join an Agile development organization and primarily be responsible for assisting customer support as an engineering consultant in resolving customer escalations, coding bug fixes and minor enhancements. You will also write unit test cases, develop an understanding of complex enterprise products at the system level, and be able to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical leadership and peers.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on the products we deliver and support while gaining experience as a Sustaining Software Engineer, which can lead to future careers within HPE.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

·  design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for software enhancements and new products
·  lead and coordinate various stakeholders in managing escalations to resolution
·  effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals, and negotiate options
·  manage and expand relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on software systems design and development
·  drive innovation and integration of new technologies to improve product quality and mitigate failure
·  provide guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members
·  perform other duties assigned

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be driven to understand the big picture of the product as a whole, but also be able to drill down in specific areas when necessary.

Education and Experience Required

·  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or other relevant field
·  Advanced degree preferred
·  4+ years industry experience with software sustaining, software development, or overall architecture of software systems

Knowledge and Skills Required

·  3+ years’ experience in software sustaining engineering or software development
·  2+ years’ experience working with C++ or C in a Linux development environment
·  Able to communicate product architectures, design proposals, and negotiate solutions
·  Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge and Skills Preferred

·  Solid experience with GIT, GDB, virtual machines, and VMware, strongly preferred
·  Solid understanding and debugging skills in network protocols UDP, TCP, and ICMP is a plus
·  Experience with and mindset for working in an Agile environment utilizing Scrum development methodologies
