Job Description
Hewlett Packard Enterprise Networking is looking for an outstanding second or third-year university student interested in an exciting and challenging R&D technical internship opportunity at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company in Roseville, CA. The position is full-time during school breaks/summer. Ideal candidates are available to work part-time during university sessions. Students MUST live and attend a university within commuting distance to the Roseville, CA area.

This position will be responsible for scripting, automation creation and/or test execution as needed to support release of Hewlett Packard Enterprise switching and routing products. Under the guidance of one of the Networking Test Lab engineers, your responsibilities may include feature test execution, scripting, creation of and/or execution of automation, authoring of new feature test cases, and performing debug analysis. You will need to document defects and enhancement recommendations. Candidates need to have strong skills in programming and/or scripting - Python is a strong plus. Ideal candidates should also have strong skills in networking including router and switch configuration and should be very comfortable with Linux.

Desired profile

Education and Experience Required:
Currently enrolled in a 4 year degree program in Computing Science or Computer Engineering with at least 2 years completed towards a Bachelor's degree. Electrical Engineering candidates may be considered as well as long as they have appropriate programming and/or scripting experience.

Skills required:
·  Minimum GPA 3.5
·  Experience with Python, TCL or C/C++
·  Linux experience
·  Strong work ethic
·  Accountability
·  Good communications skills
·  Troubleshooting skills
·  Network Analysis (or any networking) class with B+ or better.
Skills, nice to have:
·  Experience with networking protocols, switches and routers.
·  Good knowledge of networking - VLAN's, IP addressing, DHCP, PoE.
·  Good understanding of Networking (OSI model, protocols)
·  Experience with Wired network protocol analyzers (e.g. WireShark)
