The HPE Systems Architecture Lab has an opening for a Research Associate (Intern) with a background in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, physics, applied physics or materials science. The researcher will investigate systems, devices, and algorithms for analog computing engines in neuromorphic applications, security applications, and signal processing. The candidate will be able to participate in a team environment to design, operate, and simulate novel modes of computation using an existing hardware platform of custom control electronics and hybrid CMOS/memristor circuits. The candidate will also contribute to expanding this platform for novel applications.

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a PhD program in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Materials Science.
Skills of interest include a combination of machine learning algorithms, CMOS design and architecture, nanoelectronic device testing and modeling, printed circuit board design, and Matlab.
The candidate needs to be highly motivated to tackle practical problems in daily research and deliver high quality results.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills will be required for technical reporting and problem solving.
