Job description

The IT web/middleware system administration engineer position is with the HP IT Application Infrastructure Services (AIS) Engineering team. The AIS team is responsible for the web hosting and middleware hosting services for Intranet and Internet facing applications in HP. This position is responsible for deliverables ranging from implementing web and middleware servers technical roadmaps coordination, change management, implementation of Internet technology based applications in HP, maintaining of web and app hosting standards, and application outage restoration and problem resolution.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Provide expertise in application hosting technologies with emphasis on Microsoft technologies i.e., IIS and .NET.
- Support & Implement changes for business unit application hosting integration activities
- Engage with application development teams for problem resolution tasks
- Act as a technical leader within the hosting platforms, including High Availability and Mission Critical environments
- Willingness to participate in non-standard work hours if requested

Activities List:
- Support the integration life cycle of a customer"s application integration and implementation project
- Ensure the solution delivered meets the expected level of quality for HA/MC
- Support technical escalations and perform outage resolution and recovery in partnership with the HP Command Centers around the world as necessary
- Provide application ownership for all technical issues, and outages for the HA/MC applications.
- Planning and coordination of upgrades, growth, and technology changes
- Provides technical consulting, recommendations, etc to application teams
- Active participant of change review activities
- Part of a Rapid Elevation Team as escalation engineer
- Assists in developing an annual technology plan
- Communication point between the delivery tower and the application team
- Delivering support using ITIL methodologies

Desired profile

Education and Experience Required
Bachelor"s or Master"s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or equivalent educational experience with 2-3 years of relevant experience.

Skills:
- System administrative experience with IIS and .NET is crucial. Knowledge of underlying technologies is an added plus. Such underlying technologies include: Windows OS, SSL, clustering technologies, firewalls, load balancers, and website monitoring. Awareness of High Availability concepts and best practices, including Cloud concepts.
- Scripting knowledge using powershell is crucial
- Knowledge and experience on Platform As A Service technologies including but not limited to automation tools like Ansible, Server Automation and workflow tools like Operations Orchestration, Jenkins etc
- Knowledge of writing code (such as, and not limited to, C#, XSLT, XPATH, JSON)
- Knowledge of databases like Sql Server/ Oracle.
- System administrative experience on other web/J2EE servers like Tomcat, Weblogic and/or JBOSS web technologies is a plus.
- Understanding of modern software development methodologies.
- Understanding of modern software development tools and SCM (software configuration management).
- Understanding of Software Test methodologies, test scripting and testing tools.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
