Role Summary/Purpose

This role will execute on engineering related to Wind Turbine Controls enhancements with a primary focus on the Mark VIe fleet including RePower, PowerUp and other enhancements. The engineer will translate NPI, customer and other requirements into turbine control design changes. This work also includes planning, development, testing, documentation and integration of the changes into the overall platform following approved engineering design processes.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Design and development of innovative control system code enhancements to support turbine improvements for MKVIe based platforms.
·  Own the control parameter generation through loads simulation and tuning in the field.
·  Create and lead execution of validation plan for program controls integration and operability in software/hardware in the loop as well as turbine in the field testing.
·  Develop controls strategy for optimal operability, reliability, availability and protection.
·  Contribute to product configuration management, sustaining and customer support.
·  Maintain control of the safety aspects of the Wind Turbine as software changes.
·  Contribute to Controls Design Practices to implement failure prevention.
·  Support product development programs design review discussions and present relevant design details to chief engineers for evaluation and approval. 
·  Collaborate with other engineering and Global Research Center teams on new wind turbine control technology and lead design implementation efforts. 
·  Occasionally travel to site to support product testing and validation.
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical or Controls Engineering.
·  Overall experience of 5+ years in control systems software development.
·  Experience with Structured Text, C, or Matlab and Simulink.
·  Hands-on experience for software development and deployment in the field, performing validation and issue resolution.
·  Strong multi-tasking and proactive and open approach to conflict resolution.
·  Good analytical, learning skills, strong in oral, written communication.
·  Demonstrated ability with working in cross-functional teams and/or a matrixed organization.
·  Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
·  Legal right to work in Mexico. We will not sponsor individuals for legal permits or visas. 
·  In case of being a GEIQ employee, you must have previously occupied a position as an E3 or E4.  
·  Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position. 
·  Effective written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish. 
·  English skills: Be able to maintain a normal day-to-day fluid conversation in English on any topic with few mistakes (mistakes that do not affect clear understanding). Have fluency, rhythm, and sufficient self-confidence in the language to be able to handle meetings and conversations.

Desired Characteristics

·  Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering related to Controls/Sensing/Dynamics.
·  2 years of experience relevant to wind turbine control system design.
·  Direct experience with GE Mark VIe or Bachmann controller.
·  2 years of experience with PLC programming languages.
·  Experience in modeling, controls, dynamics, testing, and design of wind turbines.
·  Understanding of sensors, analog and digital I/O, and industrial communication protocols.
·  Knowledgeable in wind turbine certification, including IEC and GL requirements.
·  Experienced in modeling and simulating wind turbines in computer simulation codes, such as ADAMS, Bladed, Flex5, FAST and Simulink or equivalent industry simulation tools.
·  Experience in development and validation of wind turbine controls algorithms and data analysis.
·  Experienced in performing analysis and evaluation of loads data and measurement sensors.
·  Experience with non-GE Wind monitoring, control and automation hardware and software.
·  Understanding of security aspects of software and networks.
