Job Description Summary

At Avio Aero, a GE Aerospace company, we invent the future of flight, lift people up, and bring them home safely. We are a world-leading provider specializing in the design, production, and maintenance of components and propulsion systems for both civil and military aviation. Respect for people is core to our culture and part of our commitment to FLIGHT DECK, GE Aerospace’s proprietary lean operating model. We attract, develop, and retain industry-leading talent and cultivate communities where people are respected and empowered to reach their fullest potential. For the people of Avio Aero, their work isn't just a job, it's their passion and purpose. We were meant to fly.

Engineering associated with the manufacturing process. Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).
The Process Engineer owns preliminary-phase industrialization—setting direction with stakeholders, aligning with manufacturing sites, and de-risking early decisions (including make/buy and capacity trade-offs)—and supports the detailed phase to ensure continuity and flawless execution, with strong focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

Job Description

Essential responsibilities

Technical feasibility; time, cost, capacity modeling:

·
Evaluate manufacturability, cycle times, and should/target costs for NPIs and design changes, ensuring DFM/DFA (Producibility) through simultaneous engineering with the Design Engineering function

·
Build standard times, line balancing, resource loading and model productivity scenarios

·
Identify the optimal technological solution in compliance with standards, and define the resulting new-technology development plans (MRL) required for the program

·
Contribute to make/buy decisions, capacity planning, and risk/opportunity trade-offs

·
Propose cost-out levers (tooling optimization, cycle time reduction, automation)

·
Process definition – gears and associated operations: define end-to-end machining routers: hobbing, shaping, power skiving, heat treatment, grinding, honing, superfinishing, deburring/chamfering; specify cutting parameters and process sequence to meet dimensional, surface integrity, and productivity targets

Equipment, tools, and fixturing:

·
Specify/select machines: turn-mill platforms, 5-axis machining centers, gear hobbing/shaping/skiving, gear grinding/honing, dynamic balancing

·
Define/validate concept for cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding

·
Consolidate with site Manufacturing Engineering installation strategy and acceptance criteria for new/modified equipment

Industrial readiness and preventive quality:

·
Develop process flow, process-at-a-glance, standard work, preliminary PFMEA, Control Plan, preliminary capability study

Detailed-phase and execution responsibilities (Support):

·
Support capability studies, FAI, and machine buy-off by aligning criteria, data, and lessons learned with execution teams

·
Collaborate on issue resolution, deviation management, and containment/improvement actions through ramp-up to protect SQDC targets

·
Continuous improvement (SQDC)

·
Reduce scrap/rework, improve OEE, optimize tooling life, shorten lead and manufacturing times

·
Ensure all technical best practices are captured, then standardize and deploy lessons learned across part families

Tools and technologies:
