Role Summary/Purpose

As a Staff Cyber Security Engineer, you will utilize your cyber security and data expertise to help GE Vernova protect its global brand, products, customers, and business partners. You will assist with day-to-day security operations, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the effective protection of our information systems, data and assets against cyber threats.  This role will require lean thinking and clear communication to align and mature the organization.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Continuous Monitoring operations. Assist with day-to-day activities of the cyber continuous monitoring team, assessing threat data and alerting and coordinating responses as needed.
  • Develop and maintain the continuous monitoring technical ecosystem, delivering alerting and reporting enhancements to multiple stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with data team to define metrics and requirements to effectively assess cyber security of the organization.
  • Provide regular metrics and reporting to measure the efficiency and overall effectiveness of continuous monitoring.
  • Support Standards and Engagements activities as needed.
  • Develop and maintain policy, standards, processes, and procedures to assess, monitor, report, escalate, and remediate risk and vulnerability issues in relation to IT.
  • Develop automation as appropriate to facilitate continuous monitoring processes.
  • Assist in response to security events.
  • Ensure service and solutions delivered align with company strategy and include analytic integration for visualization.
  • Collaborate with data team to develop dashboards, logging, and alerting mechanisms to manage continuous monitoring effectively and efficiently.
  • Promote peer, cross-functional and cross-business relationships to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness.
  • Run Lean methodologies & metrics related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost within your respective area.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems (IS), Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, Cybersecurity or STEM major from an accredited college or university.
  • 3+ years’ experience in Cyber Security

Desired Characteristics

  • Vernova segments/business experience is highly desired.
  • Continuous Monitoring cyber experience.
  • Data management and coding experience
  • Industry recognized security certification(s), such as CISA, CISSP, CISM, etc.
  • Knowledge of systems implementations, SDLC, change control.
  • Knowledge of information security policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, able to communicate appropriately to technical and management audiences.
  • Ability to influence and build consensus with other Information Technology teams and leadership.
  • Ability to seek innovative solutions to obstacles.
  • Ability to lead process improvement.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery processes.
