Role Summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for an individual to join us here as an apprentice at GE Power Conversion. You will join an Advanced Apprenticeship Programme in our Maintenance Department, working closely with other members in the maintenance team and the wider manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific knowledge from their expertise, earn money whilst attaining recognised qualifications and improve skills and technical knowledge in a wide range of areas.

Essential responsibilities

Our apprentices follow a four-year training scheme, the first two years will be spent 2 days a week at Warwickshire college, and 3 days a week on site working along side experienced staff. This presents an excellent opportunity to develop hands on skills and begin a career in plant maintenance.

The successful candidates will be closely linked to a course of study which will, at a minimum lead to the attainment of a NVQ Level 3 qualification. 

Whilst studying for accredited qualifications, the successful individual will also be carrying out essential maintenance duties within the manufacturing environment.

These include:

·  Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance activities as required, including diagnostics, fault-finding, installation and repair of plant and equipment
·  Conducting routine servicing of plant and equipment
·  Taking an active involvement in the Lean Manufacturing activity for the site, with particular focus on Preventative Maintenance projects
·  Aiding in the reduction of plant downtime.
·  The completion of relevant documentation for maintenance activities, company procedures and safety systems.
·  Ensuring safety is paramount to all activities carried out

Key skills

·  Successful candidates will have/be expecting to receive a minimum of a grade 5 or above in English, Maths and a science or technology-based subject.
·  A positive attitude with an eagerness to learn.
·  Keen interest in maintenance and engineering.
·  Able to communicate effectively.
·  Aptitude for learning new techniques.
·  Ability to prioritise and multitask.
·  Able to work to an agree schedule.
·  Able to work as part of a multi-functional team
·  Good problem-solving skills.
