Role Summary/Purpose
The Design Verification and Validation Engineer, as a part of the Anesthesia and Respiratory care Systems Engineering team, utilizes a combination of structured and creative/exploratory test approaches to stress the design quality of anesthesia systems and critical care ventilators with the goal of finding defects in the product design so they can be resolved prior to manufacturing the product. This role utilizes systems engineering practices to ensure a quality design.
Essential Responsibilities
This opportunity is available for a person interested in Design Verification & Validation of Anesthesia and Respiratory Care products. Work will include:
• Design Verification and validation of anesthesia and respiratory care hardware and software using manual and automated test methods.
• Creation and execution of Verification and Validation plans, including coordinating efforts of test personnel inside and outside the Design Verification and
Validation group.
• Creating Verification and Validation Procedures, performing tests, and documenting Verification Results.
• Documenting any design defects (product non-conformances) discovered. Interfacing with other engineering disciplines to research, correct, and close design
defects.
• Development, implementation, and documentation of verification techniques.
• Participation in project meetings, project reviews, and specification reviews.
• Interfacing with other engineering disciplines to develop product specifications.
• Development of new test systems and tools and maintenance of existing test systems
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical discipline or an Associate’s degree with 5 years of experience in Design Engineering, Product Testing, or Test
Fixture Development
• Demonstrated experience working with a multi-discipline team
• Demonstrated program/project management skills
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
Desired Characteristics
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Biomedical, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
• Team leadership experience; particularly in the areas of Verification and Validation
• Experience with requirement, defect and software management tools (i.e. DOORS, ClearQuest, HP ALM, Rally)
• Experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing hardware and software problems to the root cause
• Experience performing product design verification in a highly regulated industry
• High attention to detail
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work in a high paced, dynamic global environment with a variety of people
• Experience in product life cycle and/or software development life cycle
• Test instrumentation and/or automation experience using C, C++, Java, Python, Ruby, or Labview
• Experience with BDD, especially using Cucumber, Specflow, JBehave
• Experience in Agile SW development environments
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining instrumented test systems or electronic systems
