Tax Services Assistant Manager– National Tax – EDGE – Indirect Tax – Sales & Use Tax Compliance Canter

Our National Tax and EY EDGE practice is made up of a team of professionals providing specialized tax technical services to US and global clients. Your key responsibilities

You’ll spend your time on a diverse array of projects, responsibilities and tasks;supporting clients by participating in day-to-day interactions with team members and providing a quality work product.Responsible for participating in and supervising compliance engagements as the fieldwork leader of an engagement team. Research complex tax theory and positions; Analyse information, prepare practical and creative solutions to the client's tax situation, and arrive at appropriate conclusions. Share tax planning ideas with others. Assist in the development of recommendations and implementation plans and assists in making quality decisions in complex and judgmental areas. Review work of staff to ensure completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation. Provide daily guidance to staff and help mentor and develop them. Adapt approach as needed to reflect changes in the client environment. You’llbe working in a highly collaborative culture, where listening to and sharing information with colleagues is an essential part of the role.

Skills and attributes for success

·  Strong analytical skills as well as excellent written/verbal communication skills
·  Identify engagement and client service issues. Research and benchmark client data to industry data and explain client’s critical success factors to the engagement team.
·  Lead new client transitions, organizing transition requests to clients, working with experienced staff to integrate client requirements into software, perform testing during transition and communicate testing and other transition results to client, manager and EY.
·  Monitor the status of engagement team deliverables against plan and alter when needed. Manage to budget, making full use of the firm's engagement tracking system, implementing timely billings and collection strategies, and coordinating client service involving personnel from other firm practice units.  Make cost/benefit decisions and defend them.

To qualify for the role you must have

·  Undergraduate degree in accounting or tax, or equivalent
·  Experience managing client expectations and maintaining active communication with clients to ensure satisfaction.
·  six or more years of Sales & Use Tax Compliance experience
·  Experience using Microsoft Office
·  Capacity to work independently and effectively on a variety of tasks at the same time
·  Commitment to following through effectively on all requests
Ideally, you’ll also have
·  Experience in a professional services environment
