Job description

September 2018 Intake – EY Degree Apprenticeship in Digital and Technology Solutions (Level 6) - Tax Technology & Transformation - London

Technology at EY

Advances in technology are fundamentally changing the way the world works. Today's businesses, government and individuals are responding to shifts that would have seemed unimaginable even a few years ago.
Technology is integral to the success of virtually all organisations and drives some of the biggest challenges and decisions businesses need to make.  At EY, technology is embedded in the solutions and services we provide to our clients and underpins everything that we do - we create value through developing transformational solutions across tax, risk, strategy, financial, law, people and operations.

Tax Technology and Transformation at EY

The projects we undertake in our Tax Technology and Transformation (TTT) business are characterised by their hands-on delivery of digitally enabled solutions – especially in the fields of data visualisation, artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotic process automation. Our clients are also turning to us for help with emerging technologies such as Blockchain and chatbots, where we can bring to bear the full breadth of EY’s services to help clients overcome the many and varied challenges that such game-changing technology is likely to bring.
The people in our TTT teams can expect to gain significant business knowledge and expertise as part of their role. After all, most technology-driven change ultimately has a business purpose, whether it is supporting the strategic transformation of the tax function, helping clients and EY respond to changes in digital tax administration, or building big data solutions to empower tax professionals directly.

Become an apprentice in Digital Tax Innovation

You will be part of the Tax Technology and Transformation team– offering the opportunity to start your career straight from school in a fast-paced, rewarding job that develops both practical and technical skills, preparing you for a career working on challenging projects within the digital space. You will:
·  Solve problems using a host of state-of-the-art technologies and techniques – solving complex challenges in the automation of tax advice, tax monitoring, document review, transfer pricing or withholding taxes, and streamlining and automating tax compliance.
·  Gain experience in opportunities such as designing and prototyping emerging technology solutions (e.g. developing web and mobile apps)
·  Help to reshape the tax function of major FTSE-listed companies, to ensure they remain compliant while preparing them for a digital future.
·  Be part of EY’s own digital tax transformation as the UK tax authorities (and tax administrations around the world) fundamentally change the way they engagement with taxpayers.
·  Work collaboratively in EY/client teams to solve our clients’ biggest business tax problems – building opportunities for your future in EY.

What support and professional qualifications will I receive?

You can expect first class training and support throughout your role.
You will spend 20% of your time over 4 years studying towards a BSc degree.  You will study with other Apprentices from leading Tech businesses with QA Apprenticeships. You will build on these skills in our teams with our clients in between your block release sessions.

As well as your technical training, you'll also develop essential know-how through a range of activities. Over the 4 years you can expect to experience web-based learning, shadowing senior colleagues and team members, and training courses with our in-house experts. You'll be assigned a career counsellor on day one who'll work closely with you to identify your strengths and help you grow in your career.

Having gained a grounding in technology solution, design and implementation, along with exposure to our large client base, you’ll have a wealth of practical experience to combine with your college studies. This will open opportunities both inside and outside EY.

What do we look for?

You don’t need to have any prior technical or tax experience or qualifications – we are looking for people who are passionate about technology and have a strong desire to learn and apply their knowledge in the tax domain.  Our degree apprenticeship offers you the chance to combine a business and technology career in a fast-paced, rapidly expanding field. You’ll work as part of small high-performing teams, so working well with others, as well as being able to think critically, is essential. Determination, ambition and energy are essential in this role.
