Job description
The Platform/System Engineer takes additional leadership responsibilities within a project. In addition to the general responsibilities and skills, these are the specific requirements for this job:
· Responsibility for detailed technical design at a solution level.
· Estimating technical effort, work breakdown structure, risks and solutions at a solution level.
· Responsibility for delivery of overall technical solution to schedule and time.
· Lead efforts with development team to conduct platform upgrades and coordinate for defined issues to be addressed
· Responsible for enhancements and maintaining sanity of ServiceNow Platform
· Coaching and mentoring other engineers in the ServiceNow space
· Management responsibilities and guiding fellow platform engineers in the ServiceNow team
· Working experience in projects being executed in SAFe Agile.
· Driving increase in software component reuse, platforms and environment consolidation and championing the goal of reducing overall IT costs.
· Stakeholder management with key customers ensuring that there is business confidence in the solution being delivered.
· Managing project change appropriately
Essential Functions of the Job :
· Providing technical leadership for ServiceNow applications.
· Deep understanding and experience in building cloud based platform.
· Strong programming experience in ServiceNow related projects.
· At least 8+ years of hands on experience in ServiceNow
· Experience with web service standards (WCF, REST, and SOAP). Also an ability to create secure web services.
· Expert in software design patterns
Knowledge and Skills Requirements :
· At least 10+ years of relevant work experience with ServiceNow related projects
· Should have done architectural related roles in the past
· Extensive hands on experience developing ServiceNow related applications
· Strong programming skills
· Timely creation of appropriate technical artifacts e.g. Solution Design Documents
· Interpersonal communication and organizational skills required to operate as a contributing member of virtual teams that deliver quality services
· Maintains awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential application on service offerings and products provided by IT.
· Familiar with supporting peer teams and responsibilities such as infrastructure, operations, enterprise architecture, info–security.
· Should have handled people and counselling responsibilities.
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:
· Applies judgment in implementing application development/ Application Engineering methodologies, processes, and practices to specific requirements of projects/programs which may include product design Application Engineering, information security, code maintainability and reliability.
· Sound analytical skills and problem solving skills needed to manage multiple technical challenges simultaneously per each project assigned when needed.
· Takes accountability for quality technical deliverables to agreed schedule and estimates.
· Ability to convert business and technical requirements into an appropriate technical solution.
· Proactively identifies and addresses technical strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
· Proactively anticipates project issues before they occur; defines the problem; identifies possible causes; works with team to identify solutions; selects and implements most appropriate solution raising issues to appropriate lead role.
Supervision Responsibilities:
· Is part of a Service Delivery team; works with Project Managers, Team Leader and Technical Leads to resolve issues which arise within project; supports and monitors project’s progress.
· Obtains necessary supervision and support to ensure quality adherence to Application Engineering methodologies standards, leading practices, budgets, and timelines are met.
· Lends expertise to internal IT & Business teams and task forces as well as other IT projects/programs.
· Maintains effective and consistent communication within the team, with peers and leaders across own and other teams.
· Ability to coach and mentor peers and other team members as part of embedding a high performing culture.
· Ability to challenge constructively and ensure that the broader IT and firm strategy is taken into consideration when designing and developing solutions.

Job Requirements:
Education:
A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
Experience:
· 15+ years in a corporate IT environment
· 8+ years as a technical lead role
· Experience in both Waterfall and Agile/Scrum/SAFe Methodology is required
· Work experience in a ServiceNow projects mandatory
· Big 4 experience is a plus
Certification Requirements:
Any ServiceNow Certification is a plus
