In line with the Global Finance Transformation, our Markets Finance function are launching new roles in parallel with the deployment of Mercury, one of which is the Mercury Business Advisor (MBA). The MBA manager is a member of a high performing and mixed rank MBA team headed up by the Lead MBA.

This is a high profile role working with Leadership to help drive their regions overall financial performance and ensure excellent service delivery by the MBA team.  Managing a team who will be focused on providing front line support to client handlers managing the end to end engagement process.  The role will require the ability to stay connected to their end users and will report to the MBA Lead.  In this role the candidate will be responsible for innovation, people management, service delivery and continuous improvement through the end to end process.

In summary, the Mercury Business Advisor is a finance professional with end-to-end system, process and policy knowledge who provides the right advice as it is needed and partners with other functions to address the issues facing the business as we transform how we operate.

The opportunity

The MBA manager is a professional with an excellent knowledge of their region.  You will require good people and organisation skills as well as clearly demonstrating the trusted business advisor competencies.  You will have good leadership skills and some experience in driving successful change initiatives.  You will work with the MBA team to help deploy the model in your region, ensuring the team are focused on delivering an excellent service to our client teams.  This will include embedding Mercury particularly during pre and post go-live.  You will ensure the outreach of the MBA team is successful both in terms of client handler support and the team remains agile in a fast paced and changing environment.  You will have oversight to ensure high standards of financial management and expertise across all portfolios. You will be part of the overall Markets Finance community ensuring collaboration with the Portfolio Finance Advisor and Global Account Finance Advisor communities. 

Your key responsibilities

Takes the Lead at the Region Level

In this role you will ensure an excellent client server experience and be responsible for ensuring good quality service is delivered. You will foster a positive and collaborative teaming relationship with the PFA, GAFA leads and GDS team. This role will include ensuring excellent relationships with other support functions and also have a good understanding of both risk and tax implications to the benefit of the wider MBA team.  

 

Management Responsibilities

The MBA manager will be a key team member responsible for deploying the model to their region.  The role will include having a number of direct reports, and be instrumental in developing a high performing team whilst having counselling responsibilities on a one to one basis.  You will manage the team and assist in driving recruitment efforts to build out a highly effective team. Collaboration with the other Market Finance Leaders will be essential in the success of the overall structure.  Creating and deploying a training strategy to strengthen the team’s skillset to provide development opportunities for the whole team.  Promotion of knowledge sharing and success stories is essential to allow the team to overcome challenges across the MBA and Finance community. Actively participate in building the MBA team to ensure they are agile and flexible in their attitude to enable them to deliver a quality service to the business requirements.  This will include remaining fully connected to the team in the front line to ensure all issues and concerns are dealt with swiftly and effectively.

 

Drive Continuous Improvement

Taking the lead to shape new solutions and implement best practice which will provide greatest benefit to the client servers.  Identifying improvement initiative requirements and then create a solution to remediate swiftly as and when needed.  Actively seek feedback from the Client Servers and other key stakeholders to improve the support being provided by the MBAs.  Collaborate with the PFA lead to analyse escalations and co-develop solutions to fill MBA knowledge gaps.

 

Analytical and Organisational Responsibilities

Some analytical skills are important for the MBA manager role.  Common areas where these skills would apply are:

·  Working closely with the other MBA managers to ensure the blend of skills of the overall MBA team is appropriate for the demands from the business
·  Analysing the Service Now statistical output to identify trends, monitoring performance SLAs and make recommendations for continuous improvement
·  Keeping key stakeholders aware of any issues or insights

Skills and attributes for success

·  A good track record of leading and coaching teams as well as managing expectations with key stakeholders.  You will have the ability to maintain momentum and optimism when facing pressures and when setbacks are encountered. Flexible to meeting changing business demands but able to challenge requests to ensure global consistency.
·  Ability to  identify and investigate trends and provide insights for continuous improvements
·  Acting as a trusted business advisor including providing a clear point of view, demonstrating forward thinking and challenging business assumptions
·  Pro-actively developing global networks and demonstrate understanding of the global organisation and landscape in which our clients operate
·  Professional, confident, credible communicator, able to deal effectively with all levels through meetings and presentations. Commitment and ability to work under pressure at peak times in a professional manner

To qualify for the role you must have

·  Proven people management experience whilst promoting inclusive leadership skills and able to contribute to high performing teams by demonstrating model behaviour
·  Excellent written and oral presentation skills and able to present complex information in a clear and articulate way 
·  Experience of building credibility and trust with key stakeholders
·  A proactive approach to work and the ability to anticipate the needs of the business and seek guidance as and when appropriate

Ideally you’ll also have

·  Ability to make quick decisions and provide innovative solutions
·  Strong knowledge of EYs financial tools and processes
·  Either have a finance related degree, be studying for an accountancy qualification or experience working for a professional service or consultancy environment
