Job description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Working with clients, consultants, systems architects, analysts, and project managers; consults, designs and configures complex manufacturing system solutions to help clients improve performance in their manufacturing operations through the integration of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and then works with others to help implement the technology solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform MES business requirements analysis and specifications, system design, application software configuration, development, testing, installation, start-up, and maintenance.
· Perform, and provide guidance for, system integration and application design, architecture development and support for complex and generic MES platforms including but not limited to GE-IP Proficy.
· Provide design and configuration of computer system solutions in support of Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), integration to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Quality Systems.
· Provide independent support to consulting, systems architecture, integration and solution optimization activities for both internal and external facing initiatives, including requirements gathering, feasibility studies, and preparation of functional specifications, upgrade assessments, and Requests for Proposals (RFP).
· Adhere to and participate in the formulation of various methodologies and standards required for project controls.
· Develop, implement, and conduct user and administration training as part of the installation process.
· Provide detailed and complex root-cause analysis support and maintenance to systems hardware and software as required.
· Prepare written reports and technical evaluations, functional specifications, technical documents, proposals and other assignments as required.
· Leverage complex computer-system integration services to expand the company's current offerings including reusable libraries, methods and solutions.
· Provide sales, marketing and pre-sales support, proposal preparation, and client presentations.
· Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications :
REQUIREMENTS AND ABILITIES
Requires Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences, Management Information System, Business Management, or other relevant discipline; or, demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and successful experience.
Possess independent knowledge, skills and experience in computer programming, database design, and software configuration, with majority of skills successfully executed within one or more manufacturing industries.
Must possess specialty software/systems technology knowledge, and direct solution development capabilities with GE-IP Proficy Plant Applications (PPA) and MS SQL. Incumbents are generally considered a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the GE-IP Proficy specific product line.
An additional asset would be other specialty software/systems technology knowledge and direct solution development capabilities with Invensys Wonderware/ArchestrA; Rockwell Factory Talk as well as system integration to ERP platforms including SAP and ORACLE.
Must be able to demonstrate and communicate expert-level understanding of both manufacturing business process execution and computer systems architecture in multiple industries.
May provide complex design and configuration of manufacturing computer systems, databases, interfaces and shop floor networking solutions in support of projects for manufacturing clients.
Requires prior execution of multiple, concurrent projects.
Requires direct consulting and/or systems architectural services experience, including solutions optimization experience, within one or more of the following industry markets: General and discrete manufacturing; Food & Beverage; Consumer Products and Packaged Goods; Mill Products; Pharmaceuticals & Life Sciences; and Oil, Gas & Chemicals.
Requires ability to work independently or as part of a team, depending upon project scope.
Fluency in French language is an asset.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires broad knowledge of such fields as engineering, computer sciences, management information systems, business administration, etc. equivalent to four years of college, plus a minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training. Or, possess equivalent combination of education and experience.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May participate in the administrative maintenance of subordinate consultant/architects assigned to their project, specifically providing input on the annual performance review process.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with clients, general public and other employees of the organization. Ability to read, analyze, and understand general business/company related articles and professional journals; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
