We are currently seeking intern and co-op students to join our Actuarial practice within the Business Consulting sub-service line from May-August 2021 in Toronto.

About the Actuarial Practice:

Within our talented and dynamic Actuarial group, our interns will work on multiple client engagement teams that perform actuarial audit work, valuation and pricing analysis, model building and validation, cash flow testing, and many other related life insurance actuarial projects . You will also receive on-the-job training to acquire practical experience in addressing technical/business issues and in applying industry expertise and EY policies/procedures on client engagements.  This position offers excellent opportunities for learning, teaming, and leadership.

Your Key Responsibilities
·  Establishing relationships with client personnel at appropriate levels. Consistently delivering quality client services. Monitoring progress, managing risks and ensuring key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes. Staying abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to the client’s business
·  Demonstrating ability to continuously learn, incorporate and apply new knowledge in the work environment. Possessing good business acumen. Remaining current on new developments in Consulting services, capabilities and industry knowledge
·  Working with our Consultants to improve clients' efficiency and effectiveness through the design of their operations, processes, information technology and business functions
·  Assist in executing procedures, performing detailed data analysis, reaching conclusions, documenting results and suggesting ideas for efficiencies
·  Taking ownership of tasks, including consistent review of your own work to identify and improve an approach for producing high quality work products, while working under supervision

Qualifications
·  Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in business, engineering, computer science, information systems, or another related major
·  All applicants must graduate no earlier than December 2021
·  Relevant industry experience is a differentiator
·  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
·  Proficient in MS Office, including MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint
·  Tech savviness – willingness to learn how to use relevant tools/software as needed
·  Demonstrated project management, teaming, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skill
·  Demonstrated integrity, values, principles, and work ethic
·  Willing and able to learn and work independently with supervision and guidance
·  Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines
·  Integrity within a professional environment
·  Successful candidates must be available to travel as needed within and outside of Canada and work in excess of standard hours when necessary

Additional Skills and Attributes for Success :

·  Financial modelling (conversion of models to AXIS, validation of pricing and valuation models)
·  Assessment and disclosure of financial information (financial modelling of reserves, reviews of experience studies, validation of the integration of changes in assumptions into the valuation system, validation of economic assumptions, deterministic and stochastic scenario testing)
·  Various actuarial advisory services in connection with internal audit assistance, experience analysis, product development and pricing, capital requirement validation and M&A engagements (assistance in determining enterprise value, benchmarking of valuation assumptions)
·  Risk management (development of risk management tools, assessment of risk management controls and procedures, quantification of risk exposure)
