Who are Forensic Technology & Discovery Services (FTDS)
EY’s Forensic Technology & Discovery Services (FTDS) team forms part of the Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services (FIDS) business unit and specialises in forensic technology services encompassing eDiscovery, Forensic Data Analytics and IT Forensic investigations. Using state of the art tools, our teams support clients with compliance management, fraud investigation and fraud detection.
The eDiscovery team specialise in identifying, collecting and producing large volumes of data in the form of emails, documents, databases, audio/video files, social media, web sites and more, on behalf of our clients. This is secured and analysed to separate the relevant data for use in a range of different projects.
As a team we are focused on effectively supporting our clients by applying our wealth of experience from successful engagements and by utilising our talented, multi-skillset team. Our approach is to combine cutting edge forensic infrastructure and industry standard toolsets with innovative internally developed software and analytics packages.
As an Analyst in our team, you will be working as a part of our eDiscovery team and as part of our analytics and development team.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Core eDiscovery
· Contribute to end-to-end eDiscovery engagements, performing tasks across the whole project lifecycle including identification, collections, analysis and productions.
· Use a range of industry standard software to support client requirements.
· Interact with clients directly to provide any required support in relation to the engagement at hand.
Data Analytics
· Helping clients unlock value from their information assets and embedding innovative data analytics solutions in existing services lines through
· Statistical analysis and modelling tools such as SAS, SPSS, R or similar packages, data manipulation languages such as SQL.
· Data visualization software such as Tableau and Spotfire – exposure to these applications would be beneficial.
Software Development
· Develop custom applications (C#, .NET) and scripts (Python, SQL) to solve complex and unique client problems, building on established technologies and infrastructure.
· Use problem solving approaches to overcome unexpected issues — both technical and operational.
· Research and development, looking for new ways to use existing and emerging technologies to solve client problems.
To qualify for the role you must have :
· First or 2:1 degree in Computer Science, Computer Forensics, Software Engineering (or equivalent).
· Strong independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Adaptable working style with self-initiative and the ability to learn quickly in a fast paced dynamic industry.
· Ability to communicate technical concepts to nontechnical persons.
Please grade experience level for the below on a scale from 1 – 5, 5 being advanced level of experience
· Exposure to Object Oriented programming, preferably C#, C++ or Java. Preferably industry experience or from a significant implementation project at university.
· Exposure to databases and SQL.
· Understanding of at least one scripting language such as Python, JavaScript, PHP or VB.
· Experience in data analysis and manipulation with any of the following applications: SAS, R, Python or SPSS.
