Job Summary:
A Release Train Engineer in CTPE (Client Technology Platform Engineering) leads and coaches all the Agile Train teams which are part of the Agile Train and supervises the Scrum Masters for each team. The RTE major responsibilities are to facilitate the Agile Train events and processes (such as Program Increment Planning) and assist the teams in delivering value. RTE communicates with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risk, and drive relentless improvement. RTE also manages budget for the Agile Train. Experience in Cloud projects (preferably on Azure), DevOps practices and knowledge of infrastructure (servers, networking, Active Directory, etc.) is required.
Essential Functions of the Job:

Manage and optimize the flow of value through the Agile Release Train.
·
Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs).
·
Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process which drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning meetings.
·
Facilitate the PI planning event.
·
Summarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency.
·
Assist tracking the execution of features and capabilities.
·
Facilitate periodic synchronization meetings.
·
Manage the Program budget.
·
Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Agile practices and mindsets.
·
Help manage risks and dependencies. Escalate and track impediments. Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks.
·
Encourage collaboration between teams.
·
Work with Product Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment Improve the flow of value through value streams.
·
Facilitate Program level System Demos.
·
Drive relentless improvement; assess the agility level of the ART and help them improve.
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:
The role requires a strong analytical acumen. The role additionally requires consultative questioning, influence management and critical thinking skills to understand a current problem or incident and recommend viable solutions that are both effective and supporting the value to the business.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I, or SAFe Scrum Master) required/ (CSP, PSM II) a plus
·
SAFe Release Train Engineer certification is a plus.
·
Experience executing the Release Train Engineering role for a minimum of one year, diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
·
Excellent facilitation, situational awareness, and conflict resolution skills
·
Knowledge of burndown techniques, retrospective formats, bug bashing, Kanban, etc.
·
Experience working with Agile oriented User Stories, ATDD, TDD, continuous integration, continuous and automated testing
·
Previous experience as Release Train Engineer or Program Manager for major Programs
·
Excellent communication and mentoring skills
·
Experience in Cloud projects (preferably on Azure), DevOps practices and knowledge of infrastructure (servers, networking, Active Directory, etc.) is required.

Supervision Responsibilities:
RTE supervises Scrum Masters for each team which is part of the Agile Release Train.
Other Requirements:
The role may also require the periodic allocation of additional time on the job to support multiple demands and escalating issues and some travel to support change or planned project activities.
Job Requirements:
Education:
·
Collegedegreein related technology field (Computer, Engineering, Science, etc.) or comparable job experiences
Experience:
·
At least 1 year of experience as Release Train Engineer or Program Manager for an Agile Program with multiple workstreams.
·
Approximately 3 to 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master.
·
Able to exhibit a progression of increasingly complex job responsibilities during the period.
·
Certification Requirements:
·
Scrum Master certification(CSM, PSM I, or SAFe Scrum Master) required/ (CSP, PSM II) a plus
·
SAFe Release Train Engineer certification is a plus.
