We are looking for actuaries and other quantitative professionals who are interested in growing their career in advising the financial services sector (specifically the life insurance, superannuation and wealth management sectors) within our growing Advisory practice. We are looking for talented professionals to join with varying levels of experience from two years plus.
These roles will sit within our Banking and Capital Markets Actuarial Team and provide you with many opportunities to apply your knowledge and experience to deliver pragmatic commercial solutions to our clients. You’ll build valuable relationships with financial services clients and develop strong capabilities, through both formal training and working with senior mentors and talented colleagues.

The opportunity
In today’s complex business environment, developing a sound strategy using global insight and local reach is critical. As an actuarial professional, you’ll work closely with clients to assess their effectiveness and help them identify opportunities for improvement. Working alongside talented colleagues as part of a high-performing team, you’ll help clients in a financial services risk advisory capacity as well as helping support other EY service lines like external audit and our M&A transactions business.
We are looking for a quantitative professional who is interested in growing their career in advising the financial services sector, specifically Banking & Capital Markets, within our growing Advisory practice in Melbourne. We are looking for a talented professional with 1-6 years experience who is looking to accelerate their career growth.
Your key responsibilities
Working in multidisciplinary teams, you’ll contribute valuable insights across geographies and industries. You will access global innovation and experience that you will take to our international client base.
In your role you will:
· Support our leaders in the delivery of advisory and risk engagements for banks, Wealth Managers and Asset Managers
· Build valuable relationships with clients in banking and wealth management and develop strong capabilities, through both formal training and working with senior mentors and talented colleagues
· Assist in the development of thought leadership material
· Work effectively as a team member sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, and updating senior team members on progress
Skills and attributes for success
· Knowledge of banking and capital markets
· Knowledge of the risks faced by banks and the approaches applied to managing those risks, including the mathematical techniques for measuring the risks
· Experience working across several projects at once
· Confident and credible communicator who displays both technical knowledge and commercial understanding
To qualify for the role you must have capability with some or all of these attributes:
· SAS, SQL, VBA, C++, Python or R coding experience
· Experienced with IFRS9 ECL modelling
· Credit Risk modelling experience
· Market risk modelling, derivative valuation or treasury risk management experience
· Tertiary qualifications in Economics, Finance, Mathematics or Actuarial or a related discipline
· Post graduate qualifications would be advantageous
· CFA or Actuarial part qualified
· Ideally, has experience at a bank, consultancy or a Big 4 audit firm for 1-6 years
