The Medical & Nutritional Science department is hiring a Laboratory Technician on a permanent contract in the Gut Biology & Microbiology team. The position is based in Gif-sur-Yvette (91) on the Saclay plateau in the Danone Global Research & Innovation Center which is at the heart of Danone Research & Innovation. It comprises laboratories and pilot workshops at the cutting edge of science and technology, with employees working collectively to innovate on the dairy and plant products, waters and specialised nutrition of tomorrow.
The Medical & Nutritional Science R&I division aims to create value and growth opportunities for Danone around Nutrition and/or Health.
Summary of the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic lab technician to join our DNA sequencing lab team that applies Next Generation Sequencing technology for our microbial genomics and human (gut) microbiome research projects. The lab will work with Illumina platforms to deliver high-quality sequence data for interpretation and analysis. You will join a newly developed lab that is part of dynamic research environment and will support sequencing projects for internal research programs.
Your main responsibilities will be:
· To support the operation of the sequencing lab and deliver DNA sequencing data.
· Develop and document standard operating procedures for Illumina platform instruments.
· Understand, develop, update, validate and implement DNA library preparation and sequencing methods as science and technology progresses
· Undertake laboratory management, health & safety risk assessments, reagent and equipment ordering when required..
· 2 or 3 years higher education in molecular (micro)biology
· 3 years working experience in a molecular biology lab.
· Experience with complex molecular biology techniques (e.g. DNA extraction, quantification, NGS library preparations).
· Experience in operating next-generation sequencers (Illumina MiSeq and NextSeq).
· Excellent record keeping, reporting & organization.
· Excellent attention to analytical quality, rigor and detail.
· Good communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
· Good written and verbal English language skills
· Willingness to develop new skills and protocols.
· Enthusiastic team worker.
