Job description



A fantastic opportunity has arisen as a Marketing Intern at Chanel.  The successful candidate will join the UK Fragrance & Beauty Marketing team and will become a strong owner of the brand’s marketing data, carrying out analysis and competitive comparison.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a good understanding and passion for the fragrance and beauty industry; they will want to stretch in a development role and work as part of a team in what will be an incredibly exciting year for the Brand!

Responsibilities include:

               

1)  In-depth Market Knowledge

Make it a priority to learn about the market by collating all necessary facts, figures and insights.  In conjunction with the Brand Managers, examine and analyse the market in-depth to gain a full understanding of the F&B marketplace, including:

Analysis       

Under the guidance of the Assistant Brand Managers:

Market Research

·  Lead the competitor tracking and analysis (including presenting a monthly recap). Liaise with Digital, Media. and PR teams to get a full 360 review and present the competitive report to other Departments once a month
·  Based on NPD results and market share movements, identify issues requiring further market research
·  Regularly visiting stores/online to stay aware of market trends
·  Price tracking (CHANEL and competitors)
·  Ad hoc market research

Campaign Wash ups

·  Work with the ABM and other Departments (Sales, Media, PR, Digital, CRM, Customer Care, Social Listening) to produce post campaign wash ups (quantitative and qualitative analysis for key campaigns)
·  Produce a template and implement a schedule to ensure timely feedback to Global

2)  Product Management

Under the Assistant Brand Manager’s guidance, take responsibility for some of the day-to-day management of the brand’s product portfolio, and of individual products and references:

Catalogue Management

·  Ongoing management of the F&B Catalogue and Discontinuations

 

Local POS assistance

·  With the support of the ABM, help to produce local POS (such as till units) that highlight ‘focus’ products (briefing to VM / follow-up of production)
·  With the support of the ABM, help produce recommendations for product load-ups of select Fragrance/Skincare testerstands, finding the right balance between commercial objectives vs. aesthetic.
 

Travel Retail – Visual Updates

·  Manage the transparency/lightbox changeover calendar for Travel Retail.

3)  Annual In-store Activity Plans

Under the Assistant Brand Manager’s guidance, help to oversee the creation and production of the brand’s in-store activity plans:

Execution of Plan

·  Follow projects through to execution and delivery (eg Printed material)
·  Ensure proper sign-off of projects under development at all stages
·  Ensure all product and POS materials (eg samples; tester units; price lists) are in the marketplace when required and are properly updated
·  In conjunction with the Marketing team, develop specific UK initiatives (eg Special Events)

Cycle Sell-in Material

Take responsibility for ensuring sales, training and display departments receive the elements required to do their jobs effectively:

·  Regular liaison with sales dept to ensure relevance of plans and materials being planned
·  Preparation of the Sell-In campaign presentations
·  Project Lead the quarterly cycle meeting preparations
·  Manage all Beauty Advisor  & MUA allocation and send outs

4)  Special Projects

Execute and track any Special Projects required on the brand, for example:

·  Co-ordination of Makeup/Fragrance Special Events

5)  Miscellaneous

General Support

·  Support all other teams (internal or external) with the information or material necessary for them to do their jobs effectively

Although comprehensive, the job description is not exhaustive and additional duties may be added according to the needs of the business and as requested by the Brand Manager, Marketing Director or senior management 

Personal Skills required

·  Minimum BA degree, ideally in Marketing or Business Management
·  A passion for the fragrance and beauty industry
·  Good level of PowerPoint & Excel (candidates must be very comfortable working with spreadsheets)
·  Excellent attention to detail
·  Positive, can-do attitude
·  Strong ability to adapt
·  Strong interpersonal skills
·  Highly organised, with excellent time management skills
·  Ability to work independently and under pressure
