Position Description:

Senior Python Developer
We are seeking a Senior Python Developer with expertise in cloud native development, Azure Databricks, and API engineering. This role supports the development of scalable solutions that integrate payment processing systems, remittance workflows, and enterprise data assets.

. Clearance: Reliability granted preferred or eligible for reliability clearance (5+ years residing in Canada)

The ideal candidate can quickly understand complex business and data relationships, trace payment and reversal lifecycles across multiple interconnected tables, and investigate issues involving pay periods, committed dates, remittance dates, reconciliation, and downstream integrations. They are comfortable working independently in complex environments, leveraging AI assisted development tools, and collaborating with business and technical stakeholders to deliver reliable and maintainable solutions.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

. Strong analytical and logical thinking with the ability to trace data flows across complex multi table data models
. Effective problem solver who can operate in ambiguous environments and investigate undocumented business processes, interfaces, and data structures
. Ability to understand and troubleshoot end to end payment processing workflows, including payments, reversals, remittances, pay periods, and reconciliation processes
. Fast learner capable of onboarding into complex business and data environments with minimal supervision
. Self directed and curious, proactively exploring data, identifying issues, and proposing solutions
. Collaborative communicator who can explain technical findings and data related issues to both technical and non technical stakeholders
. Disciplined in following established development standards, naming conventions, governance practices, and team workflows
. Respects existing architectural patterns and works within established frameworks before proposing enhancements
. Demonstrates accountability, ownership, and a continuous improvement mindset

Data & Cloud Engineering Experience

. Strong Python development skills, including backend services, data processing, automation, APIs, and notebook based development
. Advanced SQL capabilities for data exploration, validation, troubleshooting, and data analysis
. Hands on experience with Azure Databricks, including notebooks, workflows, Jobs, Catalog Explorer, Unity Catalog, and cluster management concepts
. Experience leveraging AI assisted development tools such as Databricks Genie, Databricks Assistant, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies to accelerate development and troubleshooting
. Understanding of Delta Lake concepts, including versioning, time travel, MERGE operations, and managed tables
. Familiarity with Git based development practices and collaborative source control workflows
. Experience working with complex enterprise data models and tracing relationships across interconnected datasets

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

. Experience with PySpark, Spark SQL, and distributed data processing
. Experience developing data quality validation, reconciliation, and exception handling processes
. Experience scheduling, orchestrating, and monitoring Databricks workloads
. Experience working with payment processing, remittance, reversal, or financial transaction data
. Understanding of payment lifecycles, pay periods, committed dates, remittance dates, processing statuses, and audit requirements

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $90,000–$140,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
