Data Analyst – Life Sciences & Pharmaceutical Industry

Position Description:

CGI is seeking a highly analytical and client focused Data Analyst to support strategic data initiatives within the Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical sector. This role combines business analysis, data analytics, and consulting expertise to help clients optimize the use of complex healthcare and commercial data assets.
The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, data architects, and technology teams to analyze existing data ecosystems, document business logic, and support the design of modern data solutions. A strong understanding of pharmaceutical data and IQVIA datasets is essential, along with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable business documentation.
As a trusted advisor, you will contribute to digital transformation initiatives involving data modernization, reporting, analytics, and cloud based platforms.

Your Future Duties and Responsibilities
Analyze pharmaceutical data assets, business processes, and existing reporting solutions to identify opportunities for optimization and modernization.
Leverage deep knowledge of IQVIA datasets to support commercial, market access, medical, and business intelligence initiatives.
Gather, document, and validate business and functional requirements through stakeholder workshops and interviews.
Analyze and reverse engineer existing reporting solutions, business rules, calculations, data transformations, and end to end data flows.
Produce high quality functional specifications, technical documentation, data dictionaries, mapping documents, and business process documentation.
Collaborate with data engineers, architects, BI developers, and business stakeholders to ensure solution alignment with business objectives.
Support data quality assessments, validation activities, and reconciliation exercises.
Participate in solution design discussions and provide recommendations for improving data governance, reporting, and analytics capabilities.
Assist clients during data migration, modernization, and digital transformation initiatives.
Present findings and recommendations to both technical and executive audiences in a clear and concise manner.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and promote industry best practices in data management and analytics.
Required Qualifications
Essential
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Life Sciences, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.
Extensive knowledge of IQVIA data assets and datasets, including their structure, business usage, and pharmaceutical applications.
Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, including commercial operations, market access, sales, marketing, and healthcare data.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to interpret complex business and technical information.
Proven experience producing clear, structured technical and business documentation.
Demonstrated ability to analyze existing applications and reverse engineer:
Business rules
Calculations and KPIs
Data mappings
ETL logic
End to end data flows
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary consulting teams.
Preferred
Hands on experience with:
Snowflake (strongly preferred)
Tableau
MicroStrategy
Experience working with modern cloud based analytics platforms.
Knowledge of SQL and data querying techniques.
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling.
Experience supporting data migration, reporting modernization, or analytics transformation initiatives.
Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies.
