Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Looking for Senior Production Accountant, who is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of production volumes, sales, and inventory for operated and non-operated oil and gas assets. This role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements, reconciling volumetric and financial data, and providing insight into production trends to support operations and management decision-making.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong in production accounting systems, and has a solid understanding of the Canadian oil and gas regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities
. Production and Sales Accounting Prepare, validate, and submit monthly production and sales volumes for oil, gas, and by-products in Petrinex (AB/SK/BC) and other regulatory platforms. Ensure all volumetric allocations and reporting are accurate and meet CAPP and government guidelines. Reconcile production, sales, and royalty data to field reports and financial systems. Monitor and analyze variances between forecasted and actual production data.
. Revenue and Royalty Reporting Calculate and record revenues, transportation costs, and third-party fees as required. Complete freehold, overriding, and gross overriding royalty calculations and submissions. Liaise with partners, joint ventures, and government agencies regarding discrepancies or data queries.
. Operational Support Collaborate closely with field operations, engineering, and marketing teams to validate production data. Support month-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis. Assist with audits, internal reviews, and implementation of new reporting processes.
. System & Process Management Utilize and maintain production accounting software (PAS, or other similar systems). Identify opportunities for process improvements and data automation. Ensure data integrity between production and financial systems.
Qualifications and Experience
. Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
. Minimum 3–8 years of production accounting experience in the Canadian oil and gas industry.
. Strong knowledge of Petrinex, Crown and Freehold royalties, and government reporting requirements.
. Proficiency with PAS (or similar systems such as Metrix).
. Excellent analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
. Strong Excel and data management capabilities.
. CAPPA certification (or equivalent) is preferred.
. Familiarity with joint venture accounting and revenue accounting processes is an asset.
