Quality Engineering Lead (Payments)

Position Description:
The QE Lead – Payments is responsible for leading and executing end‑to‑end quality engineering activities for complex payments systems, with a strong focus on SWIFT, ISO, and FED payment platforms. The role ensures high‑quality delivery through robust test strategy, automation, and execution across enterprise banking initiatives.
This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto office at a minimum 4 days per week - subject to change at any time.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Lead and execute all phases of testing including Smoke, Sprint, Integration, E2E, Business, Deployment Order, and PAT testing
Own and drive test strategy, test planning, and test case design
Review and validate system requirements, design documents, and technical user stories
Create, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases
Develop and maintain automation scripts (API, Services, E2E)
Define test data and environment requirements
Participate in defect triage, status calls, and ensure timely defect resolution and retesting
Support Test Lead with estimation, planning, and delivery adherence
Provide technical troubleshooting support to peers
Ensure compliance with enterprise testing standards and delivery practices
Continuously enhance domain and technology expertise
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
8+ years of experience in manual and automation testing
Mandatory experience in Payments domain: SWIFT, ISO, FED
Mandatory QE Lead experience
Strong experience writing test strategies, test plans, and test cases
Hands-on experience with: API Testing (Rest Assured), Automation (Selenium), Core Java, Cucumber, JUnit / TestNG, Maven & Git
Strong documentation, communication, and problem‑solving skills
Engineering mindset with attention to quality and detail
Nice to Have
CI/CD pipeline experience (Jenkins, GitHub)
Mainframe testing experience
API tools: SOAP UI, ReadyAPI, Postman
Payments Wires domain knowledge
Basic issue analysis and defect triaging skills
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors including but not limited to skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000 - $115,000. This role is a existing vacancy.
