CGI is looking for an experienced OT Cybersecurity Specialist who will work with multiple clients in a variety of industries on OT cybersecurity strategy, maturity, architecture, transformation, operations and modernization. As OT Cybersecurity Specialist you will be responsible to grow CGI’s cybersecurity practice in Western Canada and provide hands-on experience to our clients.
As a CGI Partner in Calgary, you will work directly with a large team of experienced Analysists, Developers, Business Analysts, Architects and subject matter experts to support you on your journey. You will become a key member of our Emerging Technologies team and drive forward the delivery of some of the most exciting projects in Western Canada. You will work as our key cybersecurity experts and help grow our cybersecurity consulting practice.
The OT Cybersecurity Specialist will be responsible for safeguarding operational technology (OT) environments, ensuring the security, integrity, and availability of industrial systems. This role focuses on protecting critical infrastructure and industrial control systems (ICS), addressing cybersecurity threats unique to OT environments. The specialist will work closely with IT, engineering, and operations teams to implement security measures, monitor systems, and respond to incidents.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Risk Assessment & Vulnerability Management: Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments specific to OT environments, identifying potential vulnerabilities and recommending mitigation strategies. Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that risk management protocols are integrated into daily operations.
• Security Monitoring & Incident Response: Implement and manage cybersecurity monitoring systems for real-time detection of threats across OT networks. Lead incident response efforts, including detection, containment, eradication, and recovery from cybersecurity incidents in OT environments.
• Network & System Security: Design and implement secure architectures for OT systems, including firewalls, segmentation, and access controls. Ensure proper network segmentation between IT and OT environments, preventing lateral movement of threats.
• Compliance & Policy Development: Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., NIST, IEC 62443, NERC CIP). Develop and maintain OT cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Collaboration & Training: Work closely with IT security, operations, and engineering teams to align cybersecurity practices with organizational goals. Provide training and awareness programs to OT personnel, enhancing security understanding and incident prevention.
• Continuous Improvement & Documentation: Continuously evaluate and improve OT cybersecurity strategies and solutions. Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, system settings, and security incidents.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a strong focus on OT or ICS environments. Proficiency in industrial protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, OPC, SCADA systems) and ICS security practices
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, network architecture, and threat intelligence specific to OT
• Hands-on experience with security tools and technologies (e.g., SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS) and network segmentation
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GICSP, or ISA/IEC 62443) are preferred
Preferred:
• Experience with OT security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework, IEC 62443).
• Prior experience in critical infrastructure sectors such as energy, water, manufacturing, or transportation.
• 10+ years of directly related IT or OT experience with at least 3 years of recent OT security experience
• Certified in one or more of the following GICSP, CISSP, CISM, CCSP, SANS GIAC such as GCFW, GCIA, GCWN
• Demonstrated experience in hands on Cybersecurity projects
• Experienced with OT cybersecurity
• Experienced cybersecurity expert with a focus on risk management
• Architecture certifications
• Technical skills with cybersecurity tools
Assets:
• Understanding of information security frameworks such as ISO 27001
• Ability to obtain a Government of Canada security clearance of Level II (Secret)
