Job Purpose/Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and autonomous Senior Bodily Injury Claims Expert to lead claims oversight for Bodily Injury claims in Germany. The role involves operational and strategic responsibilities, including large loss management, litigation and fraud decisions, and performance oversight of internal and external claims handling areas. The Senior Expert will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as Technical Claims, Operational Management and experts in the broader Allianz Direct markets to exchange best practices.
Main Responsibilities:
• Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day claims handling for the German portfolio through external TPAs
• Approve high-value claims above delegated thresholds
• Write Large Loss Reports and recommendations for next-level approval
• Decide on litigation, recourse, and fraud cases in alignment with legal team
• Participation in internal meetings and meetings with the TPAs to review and discuss claims' performance
• Conducting open and close file reviews as well as audits on TPAs or Distribution Partners on request
• Act as an escalation point and respond to TPA queries regarding claims handling, coverage, and policy terms
• Actively support internal projects, e.g. system enhancements, product development
• Monitor key performance metrics (e.g., cycle time, SLA adherence, cost control)
• Collaborate closely with internal departments and external partners.
Requirements:
• Several years of professional experience in handling personal injury claims (liability, accident, motor).
• In-depth knowledge of insurance law and claims management.
• Strong analytical skills and process understanding.
• Excellent negotiation skills and confident interaction with service providers and partners.
• High level of communication and team collaboration skills.
• Proven experience in KPI management and reporting.
• Proficiency in common IT systems and MS Office.
• Initiative, problem-solving ability, and strategic thinking.
• Mandatory: Very good command of German and English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor or higher degree in law, economics or related field
• Experience working with external service providers.
• Knowledge of project management and process optimization (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
• Additional language skills are a plus.
