We are looking for a Pricing Actuarial Analyst – ART based in New York

Reporting to the ART NA Head of Pricing, you will be part of a globally operating diverse group of professionals, including actuaries, modelers, and analysts, based in Munich, London, New York, and Zurich. Fueled by creativity, a pragmatic “can do” attitude, a commitment to technical excellence and collaboration, the team’s mission is to deliver results, analyses and insights that support informed business decisions, create profitable and sustainable risk management solutions for our clients, and drive the continuing success of the Alternative Risk Tranfer (ART) line of business. 

 

The Impact You Will Have  

As a Pricing Actuarial Analyst - ART you are responsible for technical case pricing of new structured insurance transactions in the ART Line of Business and for risk modelling and quantitative analyses of the ART in-force portfolio.  You are a part of dedicated deal teams, working closely with senior underwriters from different ART Regions on bespoke insurance solutions for corporate clients. 

You are responsible for analyzing claims and exposure data, developing loss models, and supporting underwriters in defining adequate deal structures. You explain model results and the resulting risk/return metrics to relevant stakeholders.  The role also encompasses project work, including development of methodological pricing concepts, new pricing tools (and their testing), portfolio models, actuarial reports, etc. 

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

  • Keeping abreast of leading market practice and drive innovation. 

  • Promoting close collaboration and interaction with ART Underwriting, the ART Cat Analytics team,  peers from other ART regions, as well as global support and governance functions to foster mutual understanding of ART's structured insurnace business . 

  • Preparing and performing price modeling and actuarial analyses for the ART LoB including documentation, communication and explanation of results. 

  • Developing global actuarial approaches and processes, as well as enhancing actuarial models and analyses for the ART LoB. 

  • Project support, including documentation and testing. 

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

  • Degree (ideally Masters), preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other appropriate discipline or qualified by experience in related discipline.; 

  • Progress towards Actuarial designation;  

  • Experience with multiple lines and types of business, preferably spanning multiple actuarial areas; 

  • Experience contributing to the development/enhancement and implementation of models. analyses and processes; 

  • Proven experience in communication of results to stakeholders; 

  • Exposure to working in an international environment; 

  • Extensive computer skills (MS Office including VBA and relevant expert systems such as Matlab, R, SQL or Java, etc.); 

  • Ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks, improve efficiency and contribute to data-driven decision making; 

  • Finance and Insurance know-how (ideally P&C), including quantitative financial and risk modeling know-how and skills; 

  • Ability to understand, elaborate and convey information clearly and effectively with respect to the audience / level of management (both verbal and in writing); 

  • Ability to identify patterns and root causes in complex (e.g., ambiguous, from various sources) data and processes to rapidly distill key issues and provide insight in various situations;  

  • Ability to identify and initiate appropriate actions to remediate issues that can be abstract/ambiguous and follow through on their remediation; and 

  • Ability to persuade and motivate others without direct authority. 

 

The annualized base pay range for this role is $130,000 – $155,000. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
