The Impact You Will Have  

Reporting to the Head of CAT Risk Solutions (CRS) , as a Junior CAT Risk Analyst you will support in identifying and quantifying major accumulation risks to assist in the establishment of the appropriate risk mitigation and control mechanisms to ensure the financial solvency of Allianz Commercial.  

 

Main focus of the position is on maintaining and enhancing our web-based geoinformation system to support the visualisation and assessment of CAT and Portfolio risks, geo-hazard and CAT events. This  also involves the technical support of migration activities regarding web-application configuration as well as supporting the design and development of tools and worflows  to extend and further automate GIS-related functionalities and processes. Additionally, you will be supporting the provision of consultancy to our internal customers via training and knowledge transfer. Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

  • Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of internal web-based GIS solutions using ESRI technology, focusing on geo-data management, service creation, app configuration, and maintenance.

  • Assist with migration activities related to database or server transitions, and develop web-processing tools and widgets for integration into web applications.

  • Provide customer support for GIS applications across various business fields, including creating training materials and facilitating knowledge transfer on best practices.

  • Support data and analysis initiatives within the Catastrophe Risk Solutions team by developing automation tools to drive simplification and innovation.

  • Assist with Cat Event Response activities, including the validation and operation of catastrophe loss modeling software, and prepare data extracts, analyses, reports, and documentation.

  • Collaborate with CUO LOBs and other relevant functions (Actuarial, Risk Management, Reinsurance, ARC, Claims, etc.) to support business steering, portfolio management, Solvency II requirements, reinsurance renewals, and data quality improvements. 

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

  • Degree preferably in Geosciences, Geography, Geoinformatics, Engineering or Mathematics.

  • Initial experience in insurance and/or reinsurance.

  • Experience in geo-data management and processing, with a focus on GIS applications, ideally using ESRI-based technology.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and JavaScript to support data analysis and application development.

  • Competency in PC software, including Microsoft Excel, Access, and SQL, for effective data management and reporting.

  • Familiarity with catastrophe modeling software such as RMS, AIR, and EQECAT, to support risk assessment and modeling activities.

  • Strong professional communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively across various levels and functions in a global environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results, drive innovation, and implement change within the organization.

  • A basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential applications in business is essential.

  • Fluent in English.
