Key tasks

As one of Fiji’s leading five star hotels located on Denarau Island, the Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa will shortly undergo a full hotel
refurbishment of its 298 rooms, including 12 suites, four restaurants, four bars and three conference rooms. This rejuvenation process is
aimed at making the Sofitel the No1 Resort on main land Fiji. Located only 12km from Nadi airport Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa also includes
a day spa, the No1 Beach Club in Fiji, two swimming pools and retail space.
KEY TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
•The role will commence in January 2019 with the hotel planned to
finish its refurbishment in December 2019.

•Manage the day to day operations of the Engineering and Gardening
teams (team of 60+ ambassadors).

•Maintain the highest level of Engineering and Gardening operational
standards in line with Sofitel Brand standards and requirements.

•Assisting the EAM & General Manager in successful transition from
resort refurbishment completion to operational resort re-opening and
operation.

•Leading, motivating and continual coaching of the Engineering and
gardening teams in a hands-on manner.

•Overall responsibility of Contractor Management.

•Management of Health, Safety and fire safety responsibilities and
compliance.

•Management of quarterly audit reporting and monthly maintenance
reporting.

•Management of all Capital Projects within the Resort.

•Development and Management of Energy and Conservation best
practice in line with Accor Standards and requirements.

•Strong understanding and execution of preventative maintenance.

Essential and optional requirements

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
•Minimum 3 to 4 years’ experience as a Resort/ Hotel Chief Engineer
•Pre opening or renovation experience highly regarded.
•Resort experience highly desirable, and previous Fiji / International
experience beneficial.
•Proven experience for maintaining the entire hotel facility, including
the physical building structure, hotel grounds, all mechanical,
electrical, Fire Systems and related equipment.
•Trade qualified in either electrical or mechanical engineering would
be beneficial.
•A hands on management style that is both coaching and mentoring
with proven leadership qualities.
•Effective communication skills with the Resort team, Resort
management, Owners and suppliers.
•Computer and Systems literate with strong administration skills.
•Proven experience in regards to management of departmental
budget and capital expenditure requirements
