Job description

Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future? If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.

Background

As a global leader in sustainable change, we have a responsibility to build in ways that make our world stronger. We are determined to drive the industry transformation, influence change across the value chain and make a positive impact across several areas.

Volvo CE has committed to the Science Based Targets Initiative to prevent global warming to increase above 1.5° C. We now want to go further beyond carbon emissions and investigate what impact we have on other planetary boundaries.

What you will be doing

In this thesis work you will research the 9 planetary boundaries and map where our articulated haulers have an impact. So far, we have focused on the climate change sector and carbon emissions. You will choose one or two of the other aspects and analyze our impact in depth, for us at Volvo CE to understand what we can do to improve and make a difference.

As a result of the thesis, we are looking for suggestions on what actions we can take as a company to improve our environmental impact, related to the articulated hauler machines and the planetary boundaries mapping.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who have studied environmental science and/or engineering or similar. You are curious and have an interest for environmental issues. You know how to take responsibility to move forward, collaborate with colleagues and to deliver on time.

We want you to be present at our Braås site in Sweden, but not required to be full-time on site.

Thesis level:  The thesis is suitable for 1-2 students on master level and can start from January 2025.

Language:  Documentation in English

Last application date:  30th of November 2024.
