Services, Digital, and Investments (SD&I) Purchasing is a global organization within GTP, representing a yearly purchase spend of 35 BSEK responsible for Investments, IT, Professional Service & Travel, and Product & Operation Services. Revenue, Digital & IT includes operating fluids, chemicals, electricity, utilities (gas, heating, water, and industrial gas), electromobility industrialization, facilitating purchasing revenue creation and using new business models in our work.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Head of Energy, Innovation, & IT Purchasing North America, you are responsible for the project and operational activities within your area of scope and region, through:
· Improving contribution to service growth and revenue creation
· Strengthening focus on sustainability
· Increasing digitalization and automation
· Securing a resilient supply network
You will lead a team of commodity buyers in your area of scope, manage supplier relationships, collaborate cross-functionally, lead/contribute to supplier negotiations, and contribute to global segment strategies.
You will be based out of Greensboro, NC and report to the Head of Services, Digital, and Investments Purchasing North America.
Main responsibilities will include:
· Membership in the GTP SD&I North America Leadership team, and actively contribute to the development of the department
· Contribute on managing the overall supplier relationship by driving business reviews, and acting as a key negotiation player in the escalation process
· Key Interface per stakeholder area
· Secure cost targets and KPI fulfillment
· Drive department activities towards wanted position
· Give input to department purchasing business plan
· Secure needed communication with cross-functional teams
· Secure sustainable continuous improvements throughout your area and cross-functional teams
· Facilitate purchasing revenue creation by developing revenue streams from our supply network partners
· Secure supplier involvement in project activities
· Get approval in relevant governance decision body (Strategy and Sourcing committee)
· Sign agreements with suppliers according to Group authorization directives
· Manage Quality, Delivery, Cost, Feature, Technology, Sustainability, and Risk Management (QDCFTSR) deliverables according to the contract
· Manage the development of your teams
· Secure and manage resources within your area
· Responsible for budget and operating expenses
· Ensure collaboration with the other managers within the respective segment(s)
· Work in accordance with the Volvo processes, the Code of Conduct and the Volvo Values
· Manage the interactions with stakeholders (VGRE, GTO, VCE, Penta, VBC, etc.) in developing joint roadmaps and planning
What We Are Looking For
· 5+ years of successful experience within Purchasing in an international environment
· People leadership experience, either as a direct manager or as a leader of a cross-functional team
· Innovative mindset, team player, developed negotiator, excellent communication skills
· Knowledgeable in current and future business trends, technologies, and markets
· Able to handle uncertainty and the unexpected
· Able to execute in a global matrix organization
· Ability to analyze difficult situations, act quickly and directly, providing direct and actionable feedback
· Works well with cross-functional stakeholders, with risks, opportunities, and alternative solutions in mind
· Able to manage diversity and offer opportunities for personal/professional development
· Able to build an effective team with a common objective and strong morale and spirit
· University degree in Business, Engineering, Information Technology, or similar
