Are you a forward-thinker in fields such as Automation, Production Development, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Analytics, Manufacturing, Computer Sciences, Digitalization, or Industrial Engineering? If so, Volvo Construction Equipment welcomes you to join our Smart Factory teams in shaping the future. Together with our production, logistics, and maintenance experts, you will evaluate, demonstrate, and implement cutting-edge technologies within Factory 4 Tomorrow. Volvo Construction Equipment Arvika offers several possible topic proposals:
· Virtual Paint Shop : A new automated paint shop is under development. The focus will be on simulation and optimization of productivity, quality, and sustainability aspects, potentially using tools like digital twins and 3D modeling.
· Gender Aspects in Industry 4.0/5.0 : Several activities are ongoing within Volvo CE. The focus is to investigate how gender aspects have been considered and develop a strategy for promoting inclusivity and achieving gender balance in the manufacturing industry.
· Internet of Things (IoT) : Focus on production and environmental parameter monitoring and analysis using real-time data to drive smarter decisions in manufacturing processes.
· Next-Generation Logistics : The focus will be on Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) controlled by a fleet management system. This will include exploring how these systems can be optimized for efficiency and integrated with existing infrastructure.
· Track and Trace : The objective is to evaluate and demonstrate systems for real-time location tracking of parts in the factory, improving inventory management and process flows.
· Digital twin : The focus is to establish one- or two-way communication between a virtual model of a robot cell and a physical robot cell as well as to assess the value of implementing a digital twin.
· Ergonomics : The focus is on designing and evaluating a balancing system that considers both human well-being and system performance, ensuring a sustainable and worker-friendly production environment.
· Additional Topics : Other potential areas of exploration may also be available based on evolving factory needs and student interests.
