Master Thesis: Prediction of atmosphere flow in case hardening furnace by CFD-calculations
THAILAND Design / Civil engineering / Industrial engineering
Job description
Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future? If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.
Background
Uniformity of the atmosphere is one of the most crucial factors of the carburising process. By using CFD-calculations in improvement work for optimization of the gas inlet, fan speed etc. could be more accurate and reduce number of trial and error settings.
Student profile
Mechanical Engineering or other relevant education connected to CFD-calculations
Thesis subject
The purpose is to create a model of a furnace with the posibility to vary X numbers of influencing factors and predict the uniformity of the atmosphere in the furnace.
The assignment includes:
• Literature study.
• Collect information of the furnace.
• Create model and calculate the atmosphere flow when using current furnace settings + minimum two more settings.
• Investigate if the model is usable on other furnaces inside the company.
• Document and present results.
