Background:
Penta is looking to electrify their marine segment and are facing challenges using traction voltage batteries in a marine environment. These components experience vibrations and shocks differently from components used in on-road or industrial applications.

 

For marine traction voltage batteries, Penta require suspension concepts that can be used in various marine applications securing efficient and reliable operations. The toughest conditions apply in small, fast boats in rough sea in which batteries will need to withstand vigorous vibrations.
 

Thesis work objective:

·  Research suspension concepts that can be used for traction voltage battery packs in a marine environment.
·  Design of suspension concepts that can be used for different battery packs (internal configuration), dimensions and weight.
·  Perform simulations to evaluate the concepts for various vibration profiles.
