What we are looking for

This thesis aims to propose innovative strategies for improving production efficiency by evaluating the Level of Automation (LoA).

Significance:
In the face of an aging workforce and the increasing demands for high flexibility and scalability, manufacturers are under significant pressure to automate production processes effectively. Addressing these challenges requires a strategic approach to assessing current automation levels to implement the most impactful improvements.

Scope:
The thesis will focus on:
•    Providing decision support tools for determining the optimal Level of Automation.
•    Refining a framework for LoA assessment.
•    Enhancing the usability of the LoA framework to ensure practical application in real-world manufacturing settings.

 

Expected Outcomes:
The research is expected to yield actionable insights and practical tools that will assist manufacturers in making informed decisions about automation.

This can include:
•    A comprehensive decision support system tailored for LoA.
•    A robust and user-friendly LoA assessment framework.
•    Recommendations for usability improvements to ensure the framework's effectiveness over time

 

Suitable student background: Production, industrial economics, applied robotics etc.
Language: English mandatory, Swedish optional
Location: Köping
