VINCI Construction GeoInfrastucture (VCGI) is a long-standing and recognised designer-builder of major linear infrastructure projects in France and abroad.  

SPIECAPAG carries out complex onshore pipeline projects and associated infrastructure such as pumping and metering stations, water supply networks and mineral transport networks.

The two companies are part of VINCI Construction's Major Projects Division and are working together on a project in Papua New Guinea.

To meet the ambitious goals of the project, we are recruiting a Topographical Lead Engineer (M/W) to join the project. This position will be based in Papua New Guinea, in a remote camp on the project site.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will:

• Take ownership of contractual survey tasks and quality requirements.


• Develop topographical survey procedures, RAMS, Inspection and Test Plans.


• Manage the survey controls network installation and determination.


• Build and manage the topographical survey team.


• Define topographical survey equipment requirements.


• Define the machine control and the drone strategy.


• Manage survey aspects of the latest design information.


• Manage daily survey and setting-out requests.


• Manage survey reports and liaise with the quality team.


• Carry out in-house training.


• Assist field teams in the use of topographical survey equipment (hard and soft).


• Carry out technical audits on site.


• Liaise with VCGI & Spiecapag central survey department.


• Suggest areas for improvement in line with VINCI Group objectives.

Desired profile

• You have a Topography engineering degree (ESGT, INSA, ESTP, etc.) and a significant and relevant experience in a similar position.


• You have experience of major projects: earthworks, structures, drainage (…)


• You are up to date with latest survey technologies: GNSS, Optical, drone, LIDAR…


• You have an experience of large survey control networks.


• You have an appreciation of machine control works and 3D models.


• You are competent with CAD software such as Mensura/ AutoCAD Civil 3D.


• You have good interpersonal skills and are known for your initiative.


• You have a keen interest in technical issues.


• You can react quickly when required.


• You are adaptable (particularly to the site environment and to cultures different from your own) and internationally mobile.


• Your balance, temperament and resilience make you well-suited to joining an isolated base-living project (life in the workplace / alternating periods of work and rest).


• You have a good command of English (including technical English, as contracts and standards are drawn up in English) and can work in a multicultural environment.
