Section Engineers – Structures / Earthworks / Drainage M/F

Job description

VINCI Construction Terrassement (VCT) covers all earthworks activities in infrastructure projects and development works. It also includes standard engineering structures and drainage systems. As part of the “Balfour Beatty VINCI” Joint Venture, VINCI Construction Terrassement is involved in the High Speed 2 Project (HS2).

VCT is part of the VINCI Construction Group, a world leader in building and civil engineering (www.vinciconstruction.co.uk). Other divisions in the VINCI Group specialize in concessions, energy, roads and railways. VCT offers expertise adapted to all projects, from traditional construction contracts to PPP projects, in addition to the delivery of turnkey projects including maintenance and operations.

We are seeking for Section Engineers M/F to control a section of the works, according to a specific discipline and to manage a team of Site Engineers within the same discipline.

This includes the following tasks:

• Allocate tasks to Site Engineers and supervise the task completion.
• Ensure the Inspection and Test Plans, and Quality Check
• Sheets are completed as soon as the checks can be completed.
• Oversee engineering requirements demanded in the delivery of a section of work or on larger projects, of a subcontractor, to meet the construction programme.
• Make effective use of document control to manage distribution of information.
• Develop and Approve relevant procedures specific to their area of works.
• In association with the Section Foreman, assess the plant and resource requirements to meet the demands of site and office-based works.
• Approve method statements and risk assessments and ensure they are being followed throughout the works.
  Ensure Site Engineers complete setting out in accordance with design.En
• sure Design Drawings are marked up to reflect works completed as the works are finished.
  Liaise with other Section Engineers/Foremen to ensure any clashes on site are managed to ensure a smooth flow of work.
• Regularly review procedures to ensure they are as efficient as possible.

Desired profile

Requirements & preferred experience:

• Degree in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND in Civil Engineering
• Site experience in Civil Engineering, highways and rail
• Experience of drainage, earthworks and/or structures
• Read and understand drawings
• Have experience of working with Permit System and actively raises permits to work
• Have basic environmental awareness
• Bridgework/deckwork and/or precast beams (viaducts/under passes)
• Heavy earthworks/civils/Highways
• Managing packages/sections of work
• Excellent communication skills.
• Fluent in English
