Geotechnical engineering is at the heart of our business and as part of VCGI’s continuing international development, we are recruiting a Geotechnical Engineer (M/F) to work on our current and future export projects.

This position, which focuses on international and major infrastructure projects, will be based on an export project, in a remote location.

Working with our major projects, and reporting to the Works Director, you will :

• Familiarise yourself with the contract documents and the geotechnical file,


• Identify inconsistencies and technical difficulties on the site,


• Be responsible for defining the test control plan and the associated resources and personnel (ordering equipment, recruiting local or expatriate teams, training and organisation, setting up and certifying the site laboratory, etc.).


• Organise and plan the additional geotechnical reconnaissance campaign in agreement with the customer,


• Ensure the dissemination of Health & Safety culture.


• Establish procedures tailored to the specific features of the site and define the organisation and frequency of inspections in conjunction with the customer, with a view to optimising the works and guaranteeing the quality of their completion,


• Establish contact and a relationship of trust with the project manager and the customer.


• Be the main point of contact for the project manager (pass on execution procedures, monitoring documents, keep him informed of progress on site, etc.),


• Ensure that procedures and control plans evolve in line with the progress of the work and any hazards encountered.


• Make recommendations to site management on areas for optimisation and variants relating to geotechnical engineering.

Desired profile

• You have a degree in geotechnical engineering and proven experience as a site geotechnician.


• You have a first experience on major projects, ideally abroad.


• You have a strong Safety & Health culture, and a desire to promote and disseminate this culture within your teams.


• Your technical expertise enables you to provide relevant advice and guide discussions and decisions with the customer


• You have excellent writing skills and are able to provide relevant technical analysis.


• You are autonomous in your work and organisation.


• You are proactive in implementing procedures and controls.


• Your communication skills will enable you to build trusting relationships and work in a multicultural environment.
  Ability to work in a multicultural environment & adapt to international standards


• Ability to train independently & proactively (including on new standards)


• You have experienced "camp based life" and the specificities of management in this context.
