Job description

À propos

We are on a mission to make cell and gene therapies accessible and affordable for all. To that end, we have developed a new and unique way to grow mammalian cells using acoustic waves.

Whilst extremely promising to cure incurable diseases ranging from cancer to neuro-degenerative diseases, cell and gene therapies are facing major biomanufacturing limits with production costs as high as 2m$/patient.

Showing 100x increase in cell density and 50x reduction in production costs, our patented bioreactors help our partners in drug development and manufacturing unlock patient access to these promising therapies.

Being cell-agnostic and scalable, our process has significant potential across a range of high-value cell-based therapies - or in the cellular agriculture space more broadly.

Kolibri is a deeptech founded in 2021 and backed by leading deeptech investors, including SOSV and Entrepreneur First.

Descriptif du poste

As an Acoustics Engineer, you will play a critical role developing our next generation of bioreactors tailored to the production of adeno-associated virus as first step and other cell-based therapeutics in the longer term. This position entails ensuring the company remains at the forefront of innovation with respects to acoustic cell manipulation while collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop our products. Joining an early stage deeptech startup and a multidisciplinary team, you will need to show inventiveness, creativity, and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Your responsibilities will include:

·         Research and development

·         Develop, test, and implement acoustic piezoelectric apparatuses generating the acoustic waves exploited withing our bioprocesses

·         Generate, shape and characterize a large 3D standing acoustic wave, against various perturbations (fluidic, thermals, particulate etc.).

•       Work hand in hand with the mechanical and electrical team to improve the integration of acoustic transducers in our prototypes

·         Modelling and simulations

·         Fully model and document the acoustic wave propagation and stabilization in current prototypes, and improve them into future prototypes and applications, especially along the scaling of these prototypes

•       Conduct numerical simulations to assist with prototyping development

·         Experimental design

·         Plan and design in collaboration with the bioprocess team experiments to study the effects of acoustic forces on cells, plasmids and viral production

·         Analyze the results to draw meaningful conclusions about the relevance of current approaches and improve them over new prototypes

·         Troubleshoot experimental setups and optimize processes to achieve desired outcomes

·         Innovation

·         Stay updated on the latest developments and breakthroughs in the field of acoustic cell manipulation

·         Seek opportunities for innovation and propose new research directions or applications

·         Build upon the company IP strategy in collaboration with our selected firm and CTO through for example patent filings

Profil recherché
