About the Opportunity
The Pension Investment Analyst role has both regional and global responsibilities; regionally you will assist with the in-house coordination of pension investments for the UK and Ireland and globally you will support a wide range of pension schemes in different countries, with a particular focus on researching investment managers.
About Sanofi Business Unit
Sanofi Pension Advisory is a specialist unit of corporate Treasury that coordinates and monitors the pension investment activities of Sanofi Group worldwide (~€18bn assets invested at end of 2017). The team is international, with members in Belgium, the US and the UK, reflecting the global nature of our work. Our work is collaborative, bringing together regional and functional expertise within the SPA team and also working closely with local and global HR to deliver efficient and effective DB, DC and savings plans across Sanofi.
Key responsibilities:
· Supporting all investment aspects of the governance and operation of the UK Pension Scheme as required, including monitoring the investment position of the scheme, liaising with scheme's advisers, preparing analysis and reports to support decision making, and implementing the investment decisions taken;
· Working in the investment manager research function of Sanofi Pension Advisory, establishing detailed knowledge of the investment managers that Sanofi pension schemes globally are invested with or are considering for appointment;
· Participating in the operation of the flagship cross-border Sanofi European Pension Fund, particularly as it relates to Irish Pension schemes.;
· Collaborating with Sanofi Pension Advisory colleagues in other areas such as risk management and investment controlling, to support the Global Pensions Investment Committee and special projects as required.
About You
To excel in this role you will need to have:
Essential requirements:
· University graduate (preferably in Finance) or equivalent ;
· Demonstrated general knowledge of, and interest in, finance, investment and pensions;
· Working towards a qualification such as CFA or similar would be an advantage. Study support may be available for relevant qualifications;
· Aptitude for analytical work, both quantitative and qualitative;
· Knowledge of Excel, or experience with other quantitative analytical tools;
· Ability to gather and analyse written material ;
· Knowledge of, or interest in learning about, investment managers' approaches and strategies across a variety of asset classes;
· Project management and execution skills;
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
· Strong organization skills, both in managing assigned projects and coordinating third parties;
· Team-oriented approach;
· Ability to work with both a local and an international team.
It would be advantageous to have (not essential):
· Experience working with a pension fund or in pensions consulting, particularly with exposure to investment operations work;
· French or German language skills, but other languages in addition to English also welcome.
