Medical Scientific Liaison (Diabetes and Cardiovascular)

Field based – South West UK

About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Sanofi General Medicine as a Medical Scientific Liaison for Diabetes and Cardiovascular diseases. Working closely with the Team Leader for MSLs you will be providing balanced, non-promotional high-level scientific and technical partnership to internal and external stakeholders for the benefit of patient care for the Sanofi General Medicine business unit.

About Sanofi General Medicine

The General Medicine GBU combines the product portfolios of Sanofi’s existing Diabetes and Cardiovascular (DCV) GBU with Established Products. The new General Medicine unit will focus exclusively on mature markets.

Key responsibilities

Provide legitimate scientific exchange to HCPs

·  Respond professionally and timely to documented requests from the field and external stakeholders for clinical information and data in relation to disease specific questions or off-licence queries through telephone, email and face to face contact.
·  Deliver credible and unbiased clinical presentations.

Provide information and technical support to HCPs

Including but not limited to:

·  Significant changes in marketing authorisation (in relation to safety).
·  Scientific publications relating to the therapy area or a product (providing these falls within the product’s marketing authorisation).
·  Clinical Trial site visits to provide Sanofi Medical support.
·  Potential clinical trial enquiry.

Develop and maintain technical expertise

·  Track and manage evolving evidence base in areas critical for the organisation.  Ensure this is communicated to the appropriate personnel and any scientific support is provided. 
·  Attends appropriate scientific congresses to develop knowledge regarding current developments and clinical advances in the relevant therapy areas; shares learnings and insights with wider cross functional teams.
·  Take personal responsibility for updating knowledge on an ongoing basis and share learnings and best practice with the wider Medical Team.

Provide scientific support and Input to training and the divisional teams

·  Provide technical advice and deliver training on disease area, therapy and clinical trials as requested by training department.
·  Work in collaboration with the training department to inform on the scientific content for the development of training materials.
·  Provide technical support and input at company and regional meetings as requested.
·  Work with regional teams to identify gaps in clinical knowledge and where appropriate, deliver an approved and relevant update to close the knowledge gap. Regional teams on a regular basis to deliver scientific and disease updates where requested by the Unit Director/national and local managers.

Provide Medical partnership to HCPs

·  Support speakers speaking at Sanofi initiated scientific meetings through preparing speaker briefings, Zinc Approval, disclose administration and acting as point of contact.
·  Contribute to managing late phase clinical trials through motivational and educational support in conjunction with the Clinical Studies Unit (CSU) to ensure success of trials. Facilitate development of Investigator Study Proposals in accordance with Sanofi policy.
·  Facilitate and support publication of external clinical data accordance with Sanofi policy.
·  Identify and map the Key Thought Leaders in specific disease areas and share information appropriately.

Maintain compliance

·  Abide by the requirements of the current ABPI Code of Practice including but not restricted to maintaining high professional standards of conduct, in line with Company policies and procedures, with a duty of care to the reputation of the Company. 
·  It is the job holder's responsibility to ensure that they are aware of all ABPI Code requirements and Company policies and procedures, which are relevant to their role.
·  Undergo PMPCA Level 3 Training and undertake 8 hours of continuing education per year.

About You

To excel in this role, you will need to have: -

·  Educated to degree level or equivalent.
·  Competent to critically appraise studies and clinical evidence to allow engagement on higher scientific level with customers.
·  Excellent communication and presentation skills experienced in the delivery of scientific presentations.
·  Adaptable, independent and proactive working style.
·  Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and of regulatory processes (Code of Practice and MHRA).
·  Thorough knowledge of all products and disease areas.
·  Working knowledge of the NHS, including the ability to understand clinical priorities and how processes work within this system.
·  Awareness of clinical studies set up and maintenance preferable.
·  Able to build strong working relationships to achieve optimal outcomes for patients.
·  Ability to collaborate and share information to contribute to the planning process and execute the agreed Medical plan in line with objectives.
