We are looking for a master-thesis student in method development for validation of tissue MS imaging derived distribution and (bio)-transformation of biotherapeutic drugs by LC-MS analytics

 

Main Responsibilities

As part of the Center of Excellence, the global imaging mass spectrometry platform at global DMPK major focuses on small molecule drug distribution, early-safety biomarker discovery and target engagement evaluations. The activities contribute to the continual development of new MS techniques to improve the understanding of the distribution and pharmacological effect of NBE (Biotherapeutics) and NCE (Small Molecule Drugs and Metabolites).

The DMPK Metabolism/tMSI section is offering an exciting opportunity for a highly enthusiastic master student seeking to gain analytical experience and play a role in the design and development of new MS analytical methods.

The focus of the current project is the evaluation and implementation of sensitive and specific LC-MS based workflows (incl., UHPLC, micro- and nano-flow) for the separation, identification (by e.g., MS/MS, Ion Mobility) and validation of the MALDI-MS imaging distribution of biotherapeutic drugs on intact and peptide level.  A deep evaluation of software platform will be performed to support biotherapeutic characterization (BioTools, Biopharma Compass Bruker Daltonics).

 

About you

· 
You are a master student in the field of Analytical (Bio)Chemistry or a closely related field with first experience in LC-MS/MS analysis of proteins/peptide and you are looking for the preparation of your master's thesis

· 
Experience in LC-MS techniques: Knowledge in nanoflow HPLC and method transposition is a plus

· 
Experience in Bioinformatics (R, Phyton, MATLAB etc.) and MALDI-MSI is an asset

· 
Knowledge of protein biochemistry, MS characterization (Top-Down, Middle-Down, Bottom-up).

· 
You are a team player with a strong ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new topcs and target-oriented work

· 
You are motivated and have a structured way of working with a high resilience

· 
Strong presentation and written + verbal communication skills, fluent in spoken and written English
