Position Title: HVAC & Facility Engineer

Site/Department : Toronto/B100 Process Engineering

Mission

The HVAC & Facility Engineer works for strategic capital and operational improvement projects in the Toronto Industrial Affairs Organization.  Currently this position is assigned to the new B100 manufacturing facility project.  The engineer is required to support the design and execution of the HVAC and facility scope of the new manufacturing facility and will also be required to support other site projects as an SME.  In the lead role, the incumbent is considered as an expert in the design and fabrication, commissioning and qualification of HVAC and facilities in a GMP environment and is accountable for producing and implementing designs according to Sanofi best practices.

Key accountabilities

·  The incumbent is considered an expert in the design and fabrication, commissioning and qualification of HVAC and facilities in a GMP environment.
·  Provide design installation and commissioning oversight throughout the project lifecycle including supporting FCCA, FAT, and Critical test plan execution.
·  Accountable for technical quality of design that meets project budget and schedule.
·  Responsible for developing the basic engineering deliverables that meet URS and compliance requirements including best practices guidelines.
·  Coordinate, actively participate and follow up on meetings with contractors and with other consultants’ Leads
·  Review relevant specifications, potential change orders, and site instructions.
·  Review design briefs, schematics, project documents for HVAC and Facility scope
·  Ensure design calculations are correct and review vendor designs for adherence to specification.
·  Liaise between B100 installation contractors/designers/ installers and Sanofi maintenance, stakeholders and end users for all HVAC and Facility requirements.
·  Work with contractors to quickly resolve onsite issues and ensure contractor’s conformance to design requirements
·  Technical engineering support to manufacturing: Provide technical guidance to site engineering teams upon request. Apply lessons learned from other sites to help with troubleshooting, design issues and testing specifics. Responsible to understand site specific standards and procedures.
·  Participate in global networks: Contribute lessons learned to the network. Participate in global initiatives when requested. Responsible to understand current global design guidelines and application.

Education and Experience

·  Minimum BSc or B.Eng in mechanical engineering or equivalent
·  Minimum 5 years of experience with a strong experience in design engineering in Biotechnology, Biopharmaceutical, Pharmaceutical or highly regulated industry
·  Organizational planning and project management skills
·  Experience in design and execution in architecture (included clean room) and structure
·  Experience in design and execution of the HVAC systems
·  Experience with Utilities
·  Experience in cGMP manufacturing environments related to the design of facilities
·  Additional experience in building start-up and qualification is preferred
·  Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external team members is essential. 
·  This position requires strong analytical skills (engineering analysis), hands-on troubleshooting skills and the capability to utilize AutoCAD, analysis software and company quality system software.
