Position Summary:

This role will over see Sanofi Pasteur's Toronto's systems to manage HSE-related risks in construction and maintenance projects. They will be responsible for ensuring contractor safety performance meets Sanofi Pasteur's HSE requirements, through systematic processes for the qualification, training, monitoring and control of high risk activities by contractors.

Key Accountabilities:

·  Performing pre-construction / pre-job risk assessment (for non-routine work) / project HSE reviews (15%).
·  Oversee, monitor and audit contractor qualification programs (15%).
·  Lead daily/morning/annual project meetings (5%).
·  Train Sanofi Pasteur personnel on contractor safety requirements and HSE programs (10%).
·  Train new contractors on Sanofi Pasteur Toronto procedures and requirements (10%).
·  Coordination and management of permit procedures to ensure no work starts without the proper permit and the process is effective at preventing accidents (10%).
·  Monitor, inspect and audit contractor safety conformance/compliance/performance to ensure compliance with legal requirements and policies & procedure at the job site (25%).
·  Assist Managers with investigations, develop and implement corrective actions to address the root cause of the incidents/accidents, working to mitigate the possibility of a future re-occurrence (5%).
·  Support and influence Project Managers in the performance of their day-to-day activities (5%).

Education and Experience:

·  At least 10 years of experience overseeing contractor / construction health and safety in Canada (mandatory)
·  At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
·  At least 1 year of experience in the pharmaceutical/vaccine/medical industry (preferred)
·  Knowledge of various HSE competency requirements for trades and heavy equipment operation.

Certifications:

·  National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Construction Safety Supervisor (CSS) (preferred).
·  Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Canadian Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC).
