POSITION SUMMARY

The Automation Technician provides highly technical electrical, electronic, and control system maintenance support and leadership to ensure the safe, reliable, and cGMP compliant operation of Sanofi’s automated pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.

At times you may be asked to do tasks other than these specified as management may decide it’s necessary.  Example possibly helping with changeovers, maintenance excellence initiatives (5s, etc.). 

This role is a 2nd shift role, running Monday - Thursday from 2:00PM - 12:30AM.

Friday - Overtime Day, as needed.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

· 
Provide complex troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of the following equipment and systems

· 
PLC, computer-controlled, and servo-controlled equipment.

· 
Electrical controls including motor starters, relays, control wiring, variable frequency drives, sensors, and both AC and DC motors. 

· 
Troubleshooting process controls including both digital and analog control circuits.

· 
Mechanical systems and components including conveyors, pumps, valves, pneumatics, bearings, seals, and power transmission system components such as gearboxes, belt, and chain drives.

· 
Implement and manage online vendor equipment monitoring and troubleshooting support.

· 
Manage software updates and backups of PLC, servo, and computer-controlled equipment, saving backups to dedicated file paths on the company network.

· 
Develop and implement plant automation projects, including vision systems, supervisory control systems, safety interlocks, etc.

· 
Use of shop machinery including mills, lathes, drill presses, and normal industrial tools for repair purposes.

· 
Support the Preventive Maintenance program by performing PM activities and assisting is continuous program improvement.

· 
Provide written and oral communication to manufacturing team leaders and management.

· 
Support Engineering projects for both new equipment installations and improvements to existing installations.

· 
Safely perform work, including adherence to policies such as lock-out / tag-out, and confined space entry.

· 
Serve as liaison for OEM technical support and parts supply contacts.

· 
Serve as a mentor to other maintenance technicians as a primary resource for solving complex technical equipment issues.

· 
Troubleshoot equipment with an emphasis on electrical, automation, and controls.

· 
Read and interpret schematics, manuals, blueprints, and other technical documents.

· 
Communicate with all levels of Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Engineering.

· 
Execute Preventive and Corrective Maintenance work orders.

· 
Understand and apply mathematics as related to machine cycle rates, conveyor speeds, or when troubleshooting equipment timing issues.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

· 
High School Diploma or GED

· 
Two (2) or Four (4) year degree in electrical, electronics, or electromechanical fields, preferred

Experience

· 
Five (5+) years' demonstrated experience performing maintenance and repairs of automated manufacturing equipment, with an emphasis on electrical and control systems

· 
OR two (2+) years of experience with a 2 or 4-year degree in electrical, electronics, or electromechanical fields.

Preferred Professional Skills

· 
10+ years demonstrated experience performing maintenance and repairs of automated equipment, with an emphasis on electrical and control systems.

· 
2 or 4-year degree in electrical, electronics, or electromechanical fields.

· 
Electrical License and willingness to maintain license while employed by Sanofi.

· 
Experience in a GMP/cGMP manufacturing environment.
